Why do so many Mexicans hate on Chavez Jr?

He hasnt really done anything for me to hate. He has stepped up his competition and has been getting better.Comment

When I was on Mexico near Toluca, everyone was talking about Canelo, and few even knew who Chavez Jr. was....
and I was in a very small town, we are talking population of 20-30k so that says a lot...
It's all about Canelo there.Comment

This makes no sense to me, Nothing he can do about that. What you want him to do disown his father publicly and break off all communication to please silly people who don't understand you don't choose your family. And in that same tone people hate him cause of his father career and saying he doing the same thing padding his record, never-minding he learning on the job with no amateur career. HE got the belt in 2011 and people got all mad, but now 14 months later and four fights later he denfending it against the p4p real middleweight king Sergio Martinez. You fools crack me up.Comment

Yup. This is pretty much how i feel about him.
Also to the people criticising him for riding his dads name, seriously?
His dad is one of the best Mexican fighters of all time? Do you really blame him?
Win or lose the man is certainly stepping it up now and trying to make his own name by fighting a legit p4p star in Martinez so all this protected and living off his dads name BS will be put to bed.Comment

Boom
This is why I'm confused. This statement is sooooo true. Chavez is turning into a respectable fighter taking on the worlds best at 160 while ginger is stalking south of his weightclass still to this day with only 1 barely respectable 154lber to his name.Comment

This thread is weird. So many people answering the question as if the statement is true. Since when did Javez Jr not have a very successful career even when he was fighting bums selling out shows? Mexicans like him very much. He doesnt have that many mexican haters.Comment
