Why do so many Mexicans hate on Chavez Jr?

There's a lot of hype around Canelo, but he deserves it. There aren't that many 22 year old kids that can do what he does, even to journeymen or washed up fighters. A lot of Mexicans have been fans of the sport for generations, and can recognize something special when they see it. To be fair, Golden Boy did try to get Oriz, Williams, Kirkland, and Cotto before they settled on Lopez. The whole "redhead" thing has little to do with it. People watch him because he has skills and his fights are exciting.

Chavez on the other hand doesn't show too many skills. His dad was underrated defensively (ducked and slipped pretty well) and was legendary offensively. Chavez Jr just gets hit a lot, and struggles when he fights guys his size. He was almost losing to journeymen at the age when his dad was knocking off legitimate champions. Mexicans fans cheer him mostly out of respect for his dad.

The kid comes to fight and makes a legit effort to win. He also comes to try and stop his opponent which I personally appreciate! I have no idea how good he could be because I see a raw fighter who makes mistakes but most young guys do. Just like any other big name prospect I want to see him under some stress and see how he perfoms.
Theres no reason to compare him to his father, it doesn't mean a thing to do that. He needs to fight at the 168 mark or go to Lightheavy so he can eliminate the time spent on his body weight training. Moving up and down shedding 35 to 45 pounds is not a healthy situation for an athlete. Ray.

And in México Canelo is the most hated mexican boxer thanks to Televisa and GBP protecting him like Povetkin is protected by the Russians.

They called him here Canelo Alvarez "El Mataviejitos" "The Grandpakiller"

And it's weird, but it seems the Mexicans in the States love Canelo, but in México if they ever fought Chavez will have like 62 percent to 38 of Canelo in support by the Mexicans here.

The only place Canelo could have more support than Chavez Jr, is in Guadalajara his hometown.

Well I am not Mexican but let me see if I can answer this for you...
1. Because he rides his daddys coat-tails, his dad was a REAL champion...no one would give 2 ****s about him if his dad was not JCC.
2. Because he fought nameless total bums for the first 42-43 fights of his career, which is utterly ridiculous.
3. Because he fights at MW and he is basically a LHW and he comes in the ring weighing 20lbs more than his opponents (which is to get an advantage because he sucks)
4. Because all he has is 1 punch, a left hook to the body (of course).
5. Because everyone is 99% sure he is on steroids and he is shady as ****.
6. Oh and lastly because he ****ing SUCKS lol.
