Good to see both of these guys fight again, for real.

Agreed. I knew Broner-Uchiyama was a pipe dream, given Uchiyama stays in Japan making big money. But I can't figure out why Broner didn't pursue Salgado as his last fight at 130. He's the Top ranked SFW, aside from Uchiyama.
Would like to see Gamboa fight Salgado and than Mendez in early 2013, while Broner fights someone like Rees/Beltran and than either DeMarco/Molina or Burns/Mitchell in early 2013. Than, let's get Broner-Gamboa in the summer 2013.Comment

I know Magee has close to no chance to win this, but i just hope Dirrel shows some silky skills in beating him and decides to slip and dodge punches instead of falling over anytime Magee gets within punching range. There's no good reason why he cant, Magee barely landed 1 half decent punch a round against Bute.
Dirrel is incredibley frustrating to watch at the best of times, but beating Magee up will be even worse for me. Oh well, i'll watch hoping to see an upset. Maybe Dirrel will have a panic attack or freeze in fear or something!
WAR MAGEE!!!!Comment

He should have gone to Japan to fight Uchiyama and fought Salgado.
Instead he's left us with a very underwhelming 130 run.Comment

there's no going to japan to fight. no money in that. the sane way Japanese fighters rarely come here. the money is better there. that's just the way it is. as far as salgado is concerned, that's a fight I would have liked to see. doesn't seem goldenboy was ever for it tho.Comment

Broner's at a stage in his career where building a foundation and resume is what's important. Going to your opponents backyard, the #1 guy in your division is a huge statement. He should have done it.Comment

yea but broner doesn't make those decisions at this point. his promoter does. they aren't gonna be on HBO and they aren't gonna recoup their losses they aren't gonna do it. Japanese fighters are very tricky for American fighters. that's why the only time u see it done is when they come here, which is also pretty rare. u might get a few second rate fighters but their biggest fighters are rarely seen. this will be nishiokas first time on American TV and he's been the best fighter in japan for probably the last 5 years.Comment

If he can fight an unranked bum in America he can fight the #1 guy in his division in Japan. If he really wanted to.Comment

I wonder if 50 and Floyd got the power to draw Uchiyama to the US. If Gamboa didn't have to reestablish himself in the US after Top Rank tainted his image he could of gone to Japan himself. Gamboa being boys with Floyd and 50 and one of the TMT firsts might have some type of say in who he faces. I'm also pretty sure they are real confident of his abilities.
Gamboa with Floyd and Roger on his aside is gonna be lethal. Assuming Roger takes over as his trainer. Its would be interesting to see how Roger develops Gamboa.
TMT couldn't had made a better move for Gamboa. These so called other promoters need to take notes. These Cubans need to be "rushed" to big fights cause theyre not getting any younger.
