And I don't see how stopping a guy faster than Froch did some 6 years ago when he was still on the domestic stage would send out any real statement.Comment

If you take into account Dirrells lay off maybe it's not that bad but Magee is really only a fringe contender and a past prime one at that, I would have liked to see Dirrell come back against a better calibre of fighter than a gate keeper/fringe contender.

I don't think Dirrell should worry about setting a statement. He should just worry about getting back in fighting shape. Going for a top gun at this time could potentially be career suicide.

Salgado is a good fight. I read something that said Gamboa-Salgado will only go through if the winner agree's to make a mandatory defense against Mendez in January though. So if Gamboa returns against IBF champ and #2 SFW Salgado, and than beats Top 10 SFW Mendez, those are two very solid wins at 130. Than, go for Broner at 135.
As for Dirrell, Cunningham was a "tune-up" that didn't last long at all. Magee is a solid fight to get some rounds in against a decent fighter. Also, it gets him the WBA interim belt, which could lead to better fights after this. Wouldn't mind seeing him fight someone like the Abraham-Stieglitz winner, Bika, Pavlik, Kessler, or Forch again later.Comment
