Cotto never properly developed a good defence against uppercuts, plus he still needs to get his ass up in higher altitudes to train for endurance improvement. Some say it doesn't help that much, but it seemed to work for Margo...he had great endurance...dunno if it was just him or the higher altitudes....maybe both?

On a positive note, he finally humbled himself and got a great trainer....AND does what he's told.

My thing with the whole 16 month layoff excuse is this......why is a layoff an excuse for Floyd whupping Shane, who was coming off stopping Margarito and was one of the highest ranked fighters at the time, but it's not an excuse everytime Floyd comes off a significant layoff???
I'm not saying it is sole justifcation for why Shane lost. Without the long layoff, I still would have considered Floyd to be the clear favorite. However, I think it had an effect on Shane as it would for any aging fighter.

The difference, in regards to layoffs, is that Floyd was much younger for his long layoffs. At the current age of 35, I would expect long layoffs to affect Floyd if he chooses to take them at this point of his career.

He was off 16 months going into fighting Ortiz and he was in his mid 30's.

B.Hop shouldn't have made that "white boy" comment...his win over Calzaghe would be OFFICAL if he had just kept his mouth shut...the way he fought JT in the rematch made me so angry.....and the choice to use Freddie Roach for a couple of fights made me wanna slap his old ass ....I hated to see him fight Roy again...I was upset that he cherrypicked Roy

Yeah, good point. Shane was 38 though.

Glen Johnson even though robbed a lot of times tends to cry robbery even when he does lose.

All I was saying is that if it happened in September 09' or May 10', it was going to be the same result. He wasn't all of a sudden worse in 2010 than in 2009, the only difference was the guy standing in the ring with him in 2010.

It could have happened when Floyd called Shane out in 05-06.
Floyd deserves no credit vs Marquez, styles make fights and Marquez knows Pac, any weight they fight at he will give Pac trouble. And a 1/2 year lay off does make a huge difference in the fight game.

Most fighters are shot at around 37 or 38 these days, most fighters can still fight at a high level at around 35 to 36, Why do you think Floyd wants to retire at 37? A year or 2 can make a huge difference in any sport.
