He never fought all the guys at 160. Julian Jackson Roy was his #1 contender and turned down the opertunity to fight Jackson, Gerald McLellan who beat Roy in the ams, Mike McCallum(choosing to wait till McCallum was well over the hill) or Micheal Nunn. Some p4p guys but he chose to fight Hopkins who AT THE TIME was a complete unknown.

Plenty of good competion at 160, but he chose to fight guys like Fermin Chirinos, Danny Garcia and Thomas Tate.

168 he never fought Liles who KO'ed Roy in the ams, He never fought Nigel Benn or Eubank either.

plenty of good competion at 168, but he chose to fight guys like Merqui Sosa, Eric Lucas and Bryant Brannon

He fought in one of the weakest era's in the history of 175 and still never fought the guy who was thought to be the second best Lightheavyweight during his reign DM. DM also never lost his WBA and IBF belts in the ring.

There are just no excuses for some of the guys Roy Jones chose to fight at 175. He ought to be ashamed of himself Lou Del Valle, Otis Grant, Richard Frazier, David Telesco, Richard Hall, Derrick Harmon, Glen Kelly and Clinton Woods.

Called Jirov out then when Jirov accepted Roy backed out of the fight.

He screamed bloody murder for a fight at heavy then pulled out of the Buster Douglas fight claiming "His family feared for his life"

When he did move up to heavy he found the worst heavyweight he could find beat him then called out every heavyweight on the planet. Priced himself out of the Lewis fight claiming he wanted 100 million plus knowing damn well no figter will ever get anything close to that.

He spent years making fun of the WBO for having DM as there champion, but when Corrie Sanders wanted a fight Roy Claimed he would not fight Sanders without the WBO belt being on the line cause thats the belt he wanted. The WBO told Sanders he would be stripped if he went along with a Roy fight. Roy pulled out of that fight.

As far as Roy Jones moving up to heavy and beating Ruiz. Is there any doubt that James Toney would not beat Ruiz also? Toney would be at least a 2-1 favorite.

Roy Jones had a good win 11 years ago and has feasted on bums ever since.

Larry Merchant once called Roy Jones contract "The Contract from hell" because when they gave it to Roy they had a term that let him pick his own opponents.

Listen all you can find out all need to know about Roy Jones career by listen to "Ya'll Musta Forgot" You know your level of opposition has ****** when your forced to brag about beating David Telesco.

The question was did Roy Jones push himself to the limit? and the answer is no and I just gave you a ton of exapmles why not who fought who or when they fought.

What has Hopkins done? Lets take a look.

He beat Antwun Echols twice, once with a dislocated shoulder.

Keith Holmes, when Holmes was considered good.

                  Felix Trinidad.......totally outclassed him.

Beat Allen twice....made it look easy.

KOed Oscar De La Hoya, he never had a chance.

Oh, and he Koed some guy named Glen Johnson, I think Roy Jones knows this guy somehow.

                    Bernard Hopkins rate him

10, There's not too many boxers today that can do what he does...he simply gets the job done period. Jones, De la hoya and Tyson were crushed by there own greatness. Hopkins consistence and ability to win in a variety of ways has set the stage for him to retire as one of the greats, not as one whom fell from grace...

He is not a ten until he beats a real good middleweight. He is not a 10. ALi is a ten.
