The fight makes sense in Oakland because more fans will pay to see it there then anywhere else. You can argue the fair thing is to fight at 175 for Dawson's belt since he is going to Ward's town.

EIther way lets just hope the fight goes on!

I really don't respect Ward for making the light heavyweight champion come down in weight.

        Great champions move up.

Ward should have done what Roy Jones and other great super middleweights have done in the past. Move up.

Then to top it off.....he fights all of his big fights in his own back yard. What a joke.

But Dawson agreed to it so oh well.

in the same interview from last night he told us he went to 175 for the big names that were there at the time. Tarver, Johnson Hopkins etc but now that the division has dried up he may stay at 168 once he beats Ward

Andre Ward is like a spoiled, pampered child who always has to have everything his own way.

And Freedom is a keyboard warrior......keep up the good work.

Ward should have went to 175 for it to be a big win. A CW would have been fine too. Been saying this for awhile.

NO! We must fight in my home city!

NO! No CW even though it makes it more fair to you, my weight only!

"SOG" is really acting like a punk.
im happy its not at a catchweight. 175 would have been better, but 168 is better than a catchweight.

im with you tho on ward always fighting at home.

I thought dawson called out ward? becareful what you ask for - oh he should move up to dawson's weight yada yada yada - Dawson wasn't on wards radar, ward got called out by a heavier opponent - thats like klitschko calling out a cruiser weight, why would the champion at 168 who has more belts at 168 go up in weight to fight someone who called him out, and give that man the advantage - dawson said he could make the weight - so make it happen..

Does Ward have that much authority over Dawson's career and decisions? All of ya'll, STOP WITH THE BULL*****. What Dawson did was 'he said, she said", Team Ward could come out and say that it was in fact the other way around.

What I do know for a fact:
-Dawson called Ward out during the B-Hop post-fight interview and stated that he didn't care what weight it happened at.
-Dawson has made the claim in multiple interviews/articles that he'll make weight without an issue, that in fact he considers himself "a natural 168lber", and that the boxing public will be surprised at how well he's gonna carry his power/speed down to the weight.

Somebody was going to have the weight advantage, in this instance it's Ward. Dawson is the one taking the risk and he's accepted the challenge. Even if he loses, he'll still be able to save face and go back up to 175 to fight Pascal again. We will see come fight night how much the weight factor hurts Dawson. You guys are criticizing Ward like he called out Dawson and forced him to fight at 168lb. It seems like the haters already have their excuse ready if Dawson looks bad.

For a fight that I'm not even excited for, I'm sure defending it like I am lmao

Bottom line is Ward is the man right now more so than Dawson, thanks to his domineering performances in the Super Six Tournament, Olympic Gold past, and unbeaten record. Ward's stock continues to rise with Froch annihilating Bute recently too. Team Ward is calling the shots right now. Period.
