Obviously, since he didn't call him out at 168lbs on national television. People are dense on here. If Dawson wasn't intending on fighting him at 168lbs then why state it as such.

They negotiated and since the challenger said himself he could make the weight, then so be it. Let him have a rematch clause at LHW just to shut the doubters up. Screw a catchweight, just degrading the integrity of the sport by having these loopholes, doesn't sit right with me.

      See the rules for yourself:

See a rule violated excessively by the son of the hugging and holding god:

      Conclusion:

Only Andre Ward fanboys can defend this ****.
The pathetic thing is that it was Kessler who was Warner for holding! LMAO at posters saying Ward doesnt get the home treatment.

So something created in the 60's is fairly new? Really?

None of what you said changes the fact that dawson a light heavy is calling out ward a supper middle as if he doesnt have his own division to fight in. I mean how about dawson fight someone in his own division thats not a grandfather.
Lol @ Ward being smaller than Dawson: Laughing at how two guys that are virtually the same size, are seen as some how one being smaller than the other because of some weight class they participate in, when they actually weigh the same on fight night and have both participated in eachother's original weight classes. Actually, Dawson could have never fought at LHW if he fought in the Olympics, because he was too small. But Ward was fine, considering he won Gold.

And actually I was first going to say the 80s, but before some historian gets technical and says the 60s, I said it myself. But the current SMW division is fairly new, being from the 80s. New is relative.

I see Ward getting bashed because of the weight class thing, and now Dawson being bashed by you because he's supposedly picking on a smaller fighter. This fight is a fight between two Ring champions, embrace it, don't hate on it. You will not see this often.

Wow, a Pacquiao fan talking like this. Hilarious

Silly me, I thought this fight was going to be in Atlantic City. Will it be in AC, and Dawson is saying that Ward's team insisted on Oakland? Somebody help me with this one, because I may be thinking of another fight that was supposed to be in AC.

Am I the only one that feels this fight should have been aired on Showtime, rather than HBO? It seems like HBO knows nothing about Ward, and Showtime is quite familiar with both Dawson and Ward.

I didnt know Ward was 190 on fightnight. Thats some impressive weightgain I must say. Surely not possible without IV's.

Having weight classes between REAL weight classes doesn't sit right with me either.

As opposed to a Berto and RJJ fan? Why not add in the rest of the crew, Peterson, Tarver, Toney etc?

Dawson asked for 68 said he'd fight at 68 after he beat Ward so I don't see the problem besides Ward not going up to claim 2 crowns.... If your a Dawson fan he has the opportunity to claim 2 crowns so to me he is in a win win situation

those are just words...bravado that fighters are known for. deep inside dawson knows he's gonna have problems making 168 and people should know that too because even at 175 he already looks bigger. that's why he asked for a 170 catchweight but he didn't get it. but then he wants the fight badly so he's making the sacrifice. nobody is crying here, it's just us using our common sense just in case you're not familiar with that word. at dawson's age, he's supposed to be going up not down. some fighters he fought and beat before are already fighting at heavyweight but here's dawson trying hard to reduce more weight to fight ward at a lower weight.
