Before anyone mentions Rigo's amount of fights, bear in mind he carries a title and more importantly has demanded fighting the best.

Why isn't he and his team trying hard to secure the fights he needs? Why is he fighting another prospect after his destruction of Teon Kennedy?
I agree he could have fought a top 10 guy like Molitor. It doesn't feel like Arum is trying to get him big fights, it's like he doesn't know what to do with this talented but little known fighter who doesn't have a country behind him. I heard Rigo will negotiate a contract extension after this fight, if he stays with TR but doesn't get Donaire he's screwed.

Im a huge Rigo fan and when Donaire was taking the easy route with Arce it was easy to defend Rigos choices, but the fact is, now the other guys with belts are taking hard fights, it's time for Rigo to take that next step too. No more excuses, he holds a belt, he doesnt need to wait for Donaire, he needs to lead by example and those fights will get made in time, but to sit around fighting average guys and calling out the top guys whilst they are fighting hard fights isnt right.

I've no doubt Rigo delivers though when he has to step up, the guy is special IMO, but now is that time to start stepping up and not waiting.

Actually, Rigo is the one carrying the blame. What no one is doing is pointing the finger at the promoter. The guy has a belt and no one mentioning his name except Agbeko recently. If he stays with Top Rank and they give a **** about him (I think its safe to say they don't) they will line that fight up for him. Actually, whoever he goes with needs to line it up. Rigo needs to make some changes and I think its time for a new promoter and a manager, he's not getting any younger.

          Abner Mares called him out.

But I guess Rigo or Arum didn't want any, so Mares said **** it and now he's moving on and fighting Chemito Moreno instead.

I think we can all agree that Rigo needs to move on and move quick considering he is 32 in less than 2 months.

Yes, soon to be 32 years of age in the smaller weights. Although he is fresh for his age, history tells us otherwise when the lighter weight fighters hit their mid 30's, it generally means it's a time to rethink their careers.

Rigo's next phase in his boxing career will prove to be the most important; if he decides to stick with Top Rank - Donaire clause or no Donaire clause - I see his career progression being treated no differently.

I already give him most of the blame... most people don't want to watch an unoknown fighter with 9 wins and boring style
Didn't Agbeko and Mares already call him out?

Could not agree more with your entire post, age and time are against Rigo and he needs to react before he gets caught in the dust. I can honestly see a legal episode unfolding similar to Gamboa's as from the outside looking in I would not think Team Rigo would go ahead signing another Top Rank contract.

The sport of boxing will truly be the greatest when all fighters share the same willingness to fight like Mares.
