This fight is obviously less important now than it would have been right after Pacman destroyed Cotto. I don't see how you can even try to say it isn't.

I don't think he means that. I think he means that it's still a huge fight regardless.

And I think Pac being "past it" has gotten way out of control on here. He's about the same guy he was in 2010, the only difference is who he was fighting. He fought Clottey, a human punching bag that night that just stood in front with his guard up all night, and Margarito, who was past it and stood inf ront of Manny all night long, in 2010. He then fought Mosley, who straight up ran and didn't engage for 9 rounds. Had Shane engaged like he did the first 3 rounds, he would have ended up getting knocked down a couple more times probably. Than, he fought Marquez, who just knows how to fight Manny and uses movement to counter Pac, he doesn't just stand in front to get tagged all night like his 2010 opponents did. Same thing with Bradley, although when Bradley elected to stand in front of Manny, he got tagged pretty good and often. But still, Bradley used much more movement than Clottey and Margarito obviously.

Both Floyd and Pac are past their prime-still good, it still cements the winner as the best of their era. It's starting to sound like some people on here are ready to downplay Floyd beating Manny is it happens in 2013. Leonard and Hagler weren't prime either when they fight, and that doesn't take away from Leonard beating Hagler, though it was a close fight.

I don't know, maybe because Pacman has no title & has looked like $h!t in 2 fights in a row?? Obvious power decline, speed decline, stamina decline. He's lost his killer instinct & his new found faith is a turnoff to some, maybe??

He didn't look like ****, he just didn't get the monster KO his fans expected, which was a silly expectation if you are honest about pac's ability to deal with boxers. He still won both fights IMO, especially bradley.

Not having a title is a good point, although when people wanted the fight , floyd didn't have a title until he beat Mosley so perhaps, since both transcend "titles", you are wrong.

Its still the defining fight of this era, although ward/sergio or floyd/sergio are as significant now. In 09 they weren't.

Leonard Hagler are no where near the same circumstances bro. They were separated by weight. Ray was injured & came out of retirement for that fight.

Floyd & Pacman have campaigned in the same weight class for years & both sides have given excuses after excuse about why the fight didn't happen. Now Pacman has no title, arguably lost to Marquez, factually lost to Bradley is visibly declined & clearly not the same fighter that he was.

But Pac really wasn't the same fighter in 2010 that he was in 2008-2009 either really. I think Pac "not being the same guy" as he was in 2010 is more to do with who he fought the last two times out.

And yeah he factually lost to Bradley, but everyone and their brother knows he should have won 116-112 or something like that.

doesn't mean the fight would have been good. many think floyds decline made the cotto fight more exciting. Even so, floyd won 9-3. No disrespect to miguel, but in 05-05 he made a wise move to avoid floyd.
sure, but in 08 he was undefeated and hadnt been knocked out yet. the may cotto fight was a good fight, and 9-3 sounds about right. but what im saying is had they fought in 08, and floyd won, wouldnt that look alot better on his record?

I don't even think you believe he really beat Marquez. He did look like $h!t in both fights. He went from dropping Marquez in 2 fights at a lighter weight to being soundly out-boxed by a smaller, weaker & older fighter in his own weightclass.

He only fought in spurts vs Bradley, tired, & didn't even seem to care that he got an unpopular decision that went against him. Even when B-Hop clearly losses he cries & complains which shows that he cares.

The killer instinct is gone, the fire is gone. The power disappeared, the desire disappeared & a win over Pacman in 2012 does nothing for Floyd compared to what it would have been at the least 2 years ago.
