I couldn't agree with you anymore. This is a huge test for each man respectively. I'm curious to see how Ward takes the hits from Dawson. IMO if Martinez beats Chavez and Ward beats Dawson I don't know how anyone could not have these guys fighting for the #1 and #2 spots P4P.

Then again Martinez vs Ward between 160 and 168 and we have a new super fight for the die hard fans..... You think thats too far fetched? I can see it happening if Martinez doesn't get the Mayweather fight. Of course this scenario has A LOT of ifs......

I have some questions about Ward's whiskers so I'm curious as well. And agree on everything else you said. I don't know about Martinez-Ward though. If Ward is able to manhandle Dawson I can only imagine what he'd do against Martinez.

IMO if they both look good in their upcoming fights then I think the fight has major potential and will be demanded by die hard boxing fans.

Both guys being the best in their respected devision would arguably be fighting for the #1 P4P spot (at least in my books). I think it would be an awesome fight, assuming Martinez' age doesn't catch up to him.

the kids will have it physically. if they're soft will be the question. i'll venture that they are, but that it won't matter. the physical talent will be there. his oldest son is huge for his age.


you rarely see great second generation boxers for that reason. if you dad is a ham and egger you come up rough, but if he's a world champion you're probably growing up middle class, which really doesn't bode well for a boxing career. you need a special person to do that.

personally i think it's horrid to name your kids like that. they're not toys. in 18 years they'll be grown, and the name they have will hold them back. i'd be shocked if they dont have them changed.

Just think about in the Hopkins fight, the rounds where Dawson lost points. Andre can do the same thing, except he's throwing twice as many shots as Hopkins and doesn't get tired. Andre Ward UD 118-110.

Ward has a similar style to Hopkins in my opinion, just a cleaner fighter.
