you have got to be kidding me.....

you have GOT to be kidding me

he was one of the best pro HW prospects in the tournament. he'd be HUGE in GBR from his very first fight, and would probably make it to the world level for some entertaining and meaningful scraps. he's got a big right hand and a HW body. the division needs it.

      sh#t sh#t sh#t

one more reason to dislike olympic boxing : it keeps these guys out of the pros

      fist lomachenko, and now this.

what about that kazak? is he going to box amateur until his death bed as well?

He'll end up professional eventually, just a matter of when.

Khan said he's stay amateur and go for gold in Beijing...

like you need an extensive amateur career to be a succesful pro - if that would be the case 99.9% of mexican boxers wouldnt exist

There has been a tendency in recent years to shelter heavyweight prospects far too much, speaking purely from a british perspective as that is what we are exposed to over here (a la Price, Fury). With the lacking interest in the division a champion that can captures the fans imagination is needed, having being exposed to the largest possible audience he will ever have in his career, Joshua is in a prime position to step up and bring new interest into the sport.

People are talking about his lack of experience, 43 fights and beating the best in the world is still fine amateur pedigree.

if he boxes in the next olympics he'll be many years out from his meaningful fights as a pro. it would probably take him the better part of a decade (four years unitl the olympics, and then at least a few years to learn how to box professionally.)

he'll be spending much of his prime as an amateur. this doesnt bode well at all for his prospects as a pro. he'll be 26 in rio...
maybe if he were still a teenager, or still filling out, but he's essentially a grown man now. he's already 235..

lets hope he's just blowing steam

I don't rate Fury, he's got time on his side but the reason why he isn't being pushed is because he's not good enough. Price spent far too long fighting cans and once he stepped up he proved his worth, if he's not fighting top competition before his 20th fight, I'll be very disappointed.

Chisora is a British heavyweight prospect who did things the right way and hopefully he can still achieve some success in the division.

I agree with you about Chisora, it was his lack of polish and possibly commitment that stalled his career whereas Price and Fury are being brought along too slow for my liking. I am keeping one eye on Dillian Whyte though.

Whyte's looking good but I prefer to turn my attention to our lower weights where I think we'll see a top fighter emerging in the next several years.

I agree NE, Joshua's decision isn't final and like I mentioned, Khan also declared his desire to go to Beijing and win gold. I think he'll be receiving some very lucrative deals over the coming months and we'll see what's happening by Christmas.

                      I agree.

I'm a huge fan of the Heavyweight division no matter how bad it is nowadays. I like Dillian Whyte. He's got some mean power. He's fighting in September and October according to Boxrec.

Hoping to see him contending for some minor titles in the future. Makes me wonder if Dillian will meet Del Boy at some point.

Sadly, Derek Chisora has got to that stage in his career..
