If he turns pro now people will expect him to be progressing quickly, but he needs to move a bit more slowly. Otherwise he could get out of his depth and get KO'd by a Sam Sexton after being fed on 8 or 9 fat Ukranian roofers.

Having said that he shouldn't stay amateur too long as he will find it harder to make the transition. One or two more years at amateur, then turn pro when the hype and pressure has died down...

Great fight in the final. I personally had him closer that 3 behind going into teh final round. I think it could do him good staying amateur for maybe 2 more years as he admitted himself he's still learning his trade. Use the time to work on his fundamental boxing skills & perfect his jab in the mean time. Would like to see him in the pro ranks before 2016 but he'd only be 26 which is still young for a heavyweight. Lennox Lewis didn't turn pro till after 2 olympics at 27 & the likes of David Price who is looking like a real prospect look to me that the extra years as amateur have gave him a great skill base to take into the pros

Might as well turn pro bro. There won't be any home gifts in Rio.

He is evolving as a fighter, at times in the olympics he looked like a novice, at others there were flashes of brilliance. Just over 3 years in the gloves he has beaten the legend Cammarale twice (one convincingly in the worlds, one in a disputable in the olympics) beaten Dychko, and come within 1 point of winning the worlds in the opposing fighters hometown (the same hometown fighter that shattered savons jaw)

Remove the hate AND the bias and what you are left with is a very promising young talent imo.

Pathetic if true - you managed to get the gold - job done, why hang around as an amateur after that? You're not going to beat gold at your home olympics

Problem is, with 3 years boxing only, he is raw. He needs more experience.

Some of the people in this thread...

He's virtually a complete novice in terms of how long he has boxed compared to other's out there. He won the ABAs then in his first major tournament he loses in the final to the hometown favourite by 1 point. He's currently the Olympic champion and all within 43 amateur fights.

Unless you're blind, it's obvious he's still raw and needs a lot of work on certain aspects of his game. If he turns professional now he can progress well under the tutelage of someone like Steward but I think he wants all the best accolades before turning professional.

With an Olympic gold to his name, he's only missing the gold in the world championships.

He could go for Gold at the commonwealths.

some might say it's more prestigious, without the P.E.D ridden filth from those other countries
