maybe he can mimic floyd again and join dancing with the stars, he still wont draw and if he still happens to draw 3,000 tickets for that, that would be sucess for broners standards

They understand numbers but they don't understand business. They don't understand that Golden Boy and HBO don't expect to get the return on their investment into Broner right now. They expect to multiply their earnings from their investment down the road. Plus they are Broner haters also.

Which means Broner can end up fighting low risk, high reward tomato cans. Yes he can. It's called investment.

No, it means you manage your investment wisely and when the time is right and the earning potential is there you make the most of it. I'm from Grand Rapids the home of Floyd and have been to every fight he has had here. By attending those fights you would NEVER think he would one day be the highest paid athlete in sports. The arena was half filled at best but his management and HBO stood behind him because they saw a star talent, with superstar potential, that would one day lead to $$$$$$$$.

I guess it depends on how you look at it. The number of tickets sold doesn't quite jump out me as much as the fact that the live gate didn't even cover Escobedo's purse BEFORE he received additional financial incentive to take the fight under the circumstances.

That's the trend I noticed with nearly every fight on the list - all but Pac-Bradley and possibly Chavez-Lee saw live gates that were less than what the B-side of the promotion was getting paid, never mind covering the A-side.

At some point, boxing executives have to figure out they're running a bankrupt system.
There must be another revenue in-flow for them to keep making the matches. If not they are bleeding their business and depending too much on PPV revenues to sustain operations.

Everyone wants to get returns on there investment as soon as possible but it doesn't really work like that in boxing, it takes time to build a fighter up. You are semi correct about America, I just think its harder to get the attention of the casual fan in America. Most casual fans here don't follow the sport close enough to know a talented athlete until they are already a star. We don't support our fighters like other countries. In many other countries like Mexico they support their fighter just because he's Mexican. Here in America we don't really do that.

hbo is really the one doing this but they do this to monopolize boxing, they dont care how well others do or if others try the same methods but as long as they got the majority share of all of boxing, its just another day of business for them, lol, they dont care for changes in boxing, involving other big time investers or outside broadcast not named hno is bad for hbo so making **** fights like this is good enough for hbo
