Comments Thread For: Team USA: Gausha Gets Screwed; Ramirez Falls Short

Make that seven straight on the wrong side of the win/loss column. The struggles of U.S. Amateur Boxing have been well chronicled; medal counts have dropped precipitously from a strong 1988 team to now. Thursday in London, fans saw a little bit of two distinct ways to lose. In the first, America’s Lightweight lost in a fight where giving up an early lead cost him too much too soon. In the other, the world saw a U.S. fighter win a fight going away and get hosed by preposterous scores.

Screwed is right. One of many horrible decisions over the past 48 hours.

saw both fights. and thats why when ppl tell me how olympic boxing matters in the pros, i just laugh and shake my head. this stuff is absolutely horrendous. i mean there are some good fighters out there, but nothing in these games means anything at the professional level.

They have to rip these dudes off now because they are going to dominate the pros....give the rest of the world a chance while they have one....well, damn.

              Sike.

Robbery or not I didn't think this US team looked very promising when I first saw them on FNF a few Fridays ago.

They will look even better on HBO in a year or two. The rest of these guys will struggle in obscurity for years until they make it to the big screen undefeated, only to lose to better talent.

Gausha, Ramirez, Browne, and Diaz all have serious upside. Spence may too. I wonder if Warren has waited too long to turn pro considering Fly shelf life.
