Back in the day that is all we saw. Guys that would pound the bags, spar, run, sit-ups and do lots of jump rope. Basically it was hard work that got them there. They also fought in their own weight class or above it.
Today it is all about guys trying to fight in the lowest weight class possible. Starving themselves, weight and conditioning coaches etc.
Back then dudes ran out of steam generally by their early to mid 30's. Hard work does take a toll on a body eventually. Floyd is getting near that mark now. He is slowing down some, but he fights infrequently enough that he might get a couple more years in the game.

Every other boxer seems to have a fancy strength trainer and nutritionist but Floyd eats junk food and does his own circuit routines.
Are strength/conditioner/nutritionists overrated? Does plain hardwork and old school training trump all?
