Yeah, its pretty sad. He was telling people he was the next guy to fight Mayweather before Flody signed to fight Ortiz.

It was during the time he was releasing Press releases calling Floyd out, and telling people Floyd is close to signing to fight him.

I like The Ghost but he is becoming like Omar Henry, but Henry is the worst of the worst the guy has never did crap yet he likes fame and gossip, Omar Henry even told a lie on Twitter to see if he could make headlines saying he ****ed Lindsey Lohan but no gossip site picked it up, Henry even told people he was on TMZ than when he showed the clip TMZ was clowning on him like who the **** is this guy? the dude is pathetic, and I don;'t want to see Guerrero have to go that low for publicity or become a fame monger.

I feel exactly the way the author does. Regardless of the dramatic side story Guerrero is a poseur, a pair of clownshoes if you will.

I respect and admire everything Guerrero has been through outside the ring and he is definitely a skilled boxer and has balls and heart. I have nothing bad to say really about him but lately I would have to agree his mouth is becoming a little much. I am not sure if he is trying to turn into some type of braggart loudmouth or is just looking for huge paydays. I give him credit for his win at WW 100%, however, Aydin is extremely limited and seemed to hurt Guerrero several times and had him holding on. Also, while Aydin does have a good chin, I did not see much pop from Guerrero at WW either. He did win, but I do not think he looked that great. If he can get hit that much from an opponent who throws 5 looping punches a round, what do you think he would get hit with from someone with ten times more skill and surgical precision (Floyd)? I think Guerrero needs to do more at WW before he is given that opportunity.

He isn't a star yet but has a PR agent releases those silly press releases like its major news.

The one where they said he was mingling with celebs but no celebrities even knew who he was, and the sad part is he had to use Mayweathers name to even get them to notice like when he said, I'm in line to fight Floyd Mayweather Jr., thats what he was telling all the celebs when he introduced himself.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure that was a cancer benefit, and considering his personal life experience, he had every right to be there.

Anyways I feel that the media is adding to the overall problem in boxing - there's no structure or system. Boxing is like the wild west of sports, there's no laws or governing bodies that actually have the balls to do anything and fighters and their promoters run rampart. Right now the media is supporting the lawless side instead of the system.

Correct me if I'm wrong here. From what I understand, the system is this: If you are the mandatory, that means you get to fight the Champion. If you beat the mandatory, you become the new mandatory, and that means you get to fight the champion.

Aydin was the Mandatory for Floyd. Aydin was supposed to fight Floyd. Guerrero beats Aydin. Guerrero is now the new Mandatory. Guerrero now as the Mandatory has a shot against Floyd.

For the people who say 'oh no, that's not good enough' then whats the point? What's the point of the ranking system, whats the point of sanctioning bodies, and whats the point of even calling this a sport? I have a problem with the system being ignored. If the system changes, fine, I'll change my views to fit the new system. But as of right now boxing is sliding deeper and deeper into the zone of no structure and everything is up in the air.

It's one thing to want to fight the best it's another to obsess about it. Guerrero is at that stage. Khan was too until he ran into Garcia. Let's hope Guerrero don't meet the same fate.

I hear the stories about Robert Guerrero and his considerable family devotion, and I find it impossible not to wish them all the best.

I hope he wins some fights and makes some money. I hope his wife gets the care she needs and stays healthy. And I hope they retire together and have a prolonged happily ever after.

The only time those things are compromised is when he opens his mouth.

Because the more the “Ghost” talks… the more his bravado should scare his loved ones.

Case in point: The aftermath of Saturday’s Showtime main event.

Instead of accepting kudos for a scorecard win over Turk slugger Selcuk Aydin and downplaying the garish ***elry presented to nearly everyone in a World Boxing Council top 10 these days, he added gallons of wordy fuel to an already ill-advised fire.

First, with all due respect to afterglow endorphins and the schoolboy giddiness of a Steve Farhood interview, any 29-year-old with a shred of grounding would concede that a two-defense reign at 126 pounds and precisely one full-fledged title win since doth not a quadruple crown make. Don't remember any such article about Khan when he was yapping about Mayweather.....just pointing that out.

Thank you, Lyle. No one (especially Floyd Mayweather) knows or cares who Robert Gurrero is. The fact that anyone is discussing a potential fight between he and Floyd is simply ridiculous.

you're forgetting Clottey has the same promoter as Pacquiao .. which is why he got the fight

**who said David Diaz ever deserved a fight with Pacquiao (same deal as Clottey, he was a Top Rank dude)

regarding bold: not necessarily, don't forget when Aydin won the WBC Silver Welterweight title he was Berto's WBC mandatory and several times Berto paid step aside money to Aydin so that fight didn't happen

**note in two other cases involving WBC Silver Champs, both Chavez Jr and
Canelo Alvarez had that same WBC Silver title. The Full WBC champ didn't fight them and they eventually got to fight for full WBC belt

look how long Aydin had been in position to challenge for the WBC Welterweight title without a crack
