One thing that's 100% guaranteed in this fight, is both fighters would ship a lot of punishment.

Marquez is obviously the more technically sound of the two, and would land a lot of punches, and most likely win on the cards.

But, Hatton would get to Marquez and land punches, and he's a strong, hard punching, natural 140 Lber.

And Marquez would not back down from a fight, he'd be happy to go toe to toe in there.

I lean on Marquez but I truley believe it would have been a FOTY type of fight.

Some of Hattons inside game is to rush in, hit and then grab, so the ref is gonna' play a big part in this fight. How much hugging is he gonna' permit?

Also a younger JMM has a good chance of side stepping many of these rushes.

I'll grant that I'm a big Marquez fan and as such a bit biased, but the gap in skill is just too wide imo.

        I question the bolded statement.

When Manny was knocking him on his ass repeatedly in the first round of their first fight, Juan got smart pretty quick.

So if that's the case, wouldn't Hatton have to finish JMM the first or second time he wobbles him?

        Not an easy task.

Juan Manuel Marquez is the clear winner of this one...

I don't think he'd finish Marquez at all.

Obviously Marquez would box when he had to. But Marquez is a warrior, he even went toe to toe with Pacquaio on many occasions.

I have no doubt that although he would box, and counter and so forth. He would also go toe to toe when he needed to. He's just that kind of fighter.

I agree, but not a one sided brutal ass whoopin.

                Huge fan of both fighters.

Hatton in his prime is twice the fighter Juan Diaz ever was.

There's no way JMM will be able to constantly maintain a safe distance away from Hatton, as his footspeed is very unique for a pressure fighter.

Hatton would definitely be using an aggressive inside game with mauling clinches. While he's good at that, JMM is very good at sneaking in uppercuts from... any distance, even in the inside (see when Casamayor tried to hold onto JMM after he got floored. That's one example)

I'm willing to be that if Hatton had much longer arms/reach, he would have focused more on using that speedy footwork for outboxing.

Juan Manuel Marquez by a hard fought, 115-112 decision, with one knockdown from each man. (Hatton gets floored from a left uppercut, JMM gets floored from a left hook).

Would have been a great fight if it had happened in Ricky's prime. Hatton really was a force to be reckoned with in his prime. As most everyone has said, Marquez has the edge in skill but I think he would have been hell for Marquez and I wouldn't be surprised if Hatton beat him.

JMM counters Hatton into submission. He would rush in and get tagged on the way in. JMM all the way. Even this version of Marquez would whip him. He arguably beat Pacquiao who flattened hatton. Come on man!

The pre Mayweather fight Hatton was a force to be reckoned with and would give Marquez a hard time. The post Mayweather fight Hatton is damaged goods and Marquez would win easily.
