Besides the KO loss by Khan those numbers should take a lot the air out of Khan's head and ego. As many have been saying on here for a while now Khan is not the draw or big boxing figure that he thinks he is. He is going to have to recognize that soon better yet right now.

Anybody know how fans qualify or get those give away tickets? Are they given away by the casino to gamblers who sort of regularly spend money or are they given away by the promoter? If the promoter how do they decide?

Sad thing is that this was an HBO fight.

Back in the day, when a fight was on HBO, you know you were watching the best fight boxing had to offer.

The fact that they're just giving away tickets now shows boxing's apparent decline.

I can't be mad at boxing's decline in popularity because its boxing's own fault. 95+% of the so called big fights don't belong in Vegas but that is where they are put. Promoters don't even let prospects build up their hometown fan base anymore. So why should the hometown crowd travel to see a fighter that has never fought in his own hometown. Example Gary Russell Jr is from the DC area and has never fought in the DC area. It makes no sense. Two well known East coast boxers who are big tickets sellers have a fight on the west coast then get bad numbers (B-Hop vs Dawson) If ever a big fight should have been in Atlantic City or New York it was that one.

Boxing is giving itself its own rope to hang itself.

Look at this site to see why boxing is in such a sad state.

Every great fighter gets crapped on, every good young prospect gets criticized, every champion is "bogus", every contender is a "bum" etc etc.

Just too much negativity across the board, Then, the only time boxing gets mainstream publicity, its because of something negative.

It is truly hard to be a boxing fan right now.

Agree. His head got big thinking he was a draw but in reality most of his US fights were in his opponents home town. Malignaggi was the draw since they fought in NY. The Maidana fight was Vegas worthy. The UK fight got taken off of PPV and shown on regular TV. Call me crazy but Zab fights always sell. Peterson was the draw since they fought in DC (my hometown). If he would have fought Garcia in Philly, it would have sold a lot more tix. He should stick to the blue print but make sure he gets a neutral ref and judges.

4K UK fans were going to Pete 2. People are ignoring that. Khan isn't a huge draw in the US, but he doesn't say he is. He actually talks pay days, and usually he would give most their biggest payday.

True but how many of those 4k UK fans came to see the 1st fight vs Peterson in DC? They had to put on a fight of the year type of fight to get those fans to travel over here for the rematch. I live in DC and the city was buzzing for that 1st fight.

Khan's ego bubble has to have burst after those numbers if it hasn't then it never will.
