At the end of the day, I have probably lost more than everyone posting here because of this. Its at least $500 down the drain. But even at that, I'm not angry or upset at either fighter. IMO Broner made the right decision by not draining himself and putting his career in jeopary, in more ways than one. And Escobedo is within his right to pull outta the fight. Now, if I were in Vinny's shoes, I'd proceed with the fight. Him and whomever the WBO deems him to fight for the vacant strap will likely not be HBO televised or as big a payday as he's gonna get here. And if he loses, he's lost nothing. He's expected to lose anyway. And this weight situation is gonna give him even more excuse when the inevitable loss comes. I think its a bad move on part of he and his team. But they are within their right to do what they think is best. Either way, its disappointing, but that's boxing.

HBO was pumping Joan Guzman fairly hard, and he pulled the same stunt. When is the last time you saw him on HBO?
as for Guzman...Joan missed weight MULTIPLE TIMES...not just once so that is a **** Comparison (No Offense!)

A prime Holyfield would come in at 212 and fight guys 240.
Prime Tyson would weigh 220 and fight guys 245-250.
How can a guy weighing 130 not fight a guy weighing 135?
A guy 147 can't fight a guy 154 or 160?
122 can't fight 126?
160 can't fight 175 or 168?
Lower weight classes make exciting fights but the different weight classes hurt the sport.
A guy thats 122 should have to fight fighters that can weigh up to 130
126 should have to fight fighters that weigh up to 135
130 up to 147
135 up to 154
140 up to 160
147 up to 168
154 up to 175
160 up to 175
168 up to CW
175 up to CW
CW up to HW
you have no idea at all what you are talking about
to adress the OP:
broner, you f#cked up. you ****ed up bad. i dont want to see you get paid to fight tonight. if you fight i want to see your expenses covered, your people paid, and every other dime go to chente escobedo. you ought to be ashamed of yourself. HBO is giving you a huge push. a huge push. and you spat in their faces. not only did you miss weight, you ate twinkies and twix all week? you get hundreds of thousands of dollars to fight, and make weight, you clown.
if HBO gets left in the lurch tonight and loses a broadcast because adrien broner missed weight twice i hope they send a message by refusing to bring him back on their air for a long time. when they do bring him back, i want to see the kid going 12 with somebody a lot bigger than he is. we'll see you make weight at 135 or 140 and hopefully take some punches
you clown, broner. i was a fan, too. now i'll turn my back on you until you earn your stripes.
any word on what hbo is planning? i don't think they had any televised undercards, did they?
i would love a same day replacement
i cant think of a single candidate, though. you'd need a smaller guy with huge stones who is always in shape, or somebody who is already training for a fight and already light enough to weigh in on the same day
it's not happening. not to mention it's HBO, and they wont let just anybody fight on their airwaves.

If he can't handle the cuts and his "off season" dieting (i think he thinks he can use the training camp to compensate for Burger King abuse) imagine how he's gonna deal with real difficult to manage things in life.

I have never seen so much disappointment for a fight not happening, lmao. I'm glad the fight is cancelled. Broner looked like a skeleton. Rios did too. Rios fought Abril terribly because he had no reserves to fall back on. When you can't use your reserves in fights because making weight takes so much out of you, cancel the fight. Broner should've went up in weight in his last fight.

Wow, 23 pages because a guy missed weight, boxing fans are hungry for the next star...
Broner is a 22 year old that is growing into his body, what do you expect, he obviously trained hard, he's a champion and headlining a main event, hes not exactly a bum...
I guess that talking a big game brings big expectations, not so long ago, Floyd was in the same situation and he threw money at it and everything was cool...
This is just a case of a young man growing into his frame and a guy that has not been paid enough to go along with it...
Trust that if these guys where gonna make millions, this fight would still be on, I guess that Broner has to realize that his mouth brought expectations way up!!!

Broner isn't at the level where he can piss off HBO like that.

The whole point here is that Broner is lil biiiiitcccchhh moron who is acting like he can do what he wants like if he was p4p king. I hope this shiiiiitttttt for brains learns his lesson and he realize that he is a shiiitttttt stain still and not a ppv super starLast edited by wizard king; 07-21-2012, 01:27 PM.
