Comments Thread For: Arum: Chavez Jr.-Martinez, Hispanic Super Bowl Of Boxing

Bob Arum continues to show why he and his Top Rank promotional company are head and shoulders above every other promoter in the United States.

For nearly his entire career, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (46-0-1, 32KO) has been accused of being many things by many in the media and the boxing public. ‘Fighter’ was almost never one of them, especially among his peers.

Ask Sergio Martinez (49-2-2, 28KO) and his handlers their opinion of Chavez Jr. a year ago, and words “coward,” “fraud” and “protected” would immediately fly out of their collective mouths.

The Racket Squad: For Once, A Fight To Be Proud Of!

Macklin pressed Sergio until the Irishman ran out of steam.
It was a long night for Martinez.
      Julio will not lack stamina.
Forget the over hyped Alvarez. This one is going to be something.

Canelo vs Chavez Jr is a bigger fight than Martinez vs Chavez Jr that title should be reserved for that fight

I have tickets for this but if they seriously don't put on a good under card I will switch over the canelo vs Lopez........Not for the main event but for the entertaining under card scraps. Main fight will be entertaining until Canelo ko's him in the 4th(which is still entertaining).

Fights in less then 2 months now and no one is signed for the under card yet?

arum really has nothing going on. thats why he made this rediculous statement. chavez is the worse mexican champion ever and martinez is a technician. this does'nt come no where near the boxing hispanic superbowl. canelo vs martinez is a better fit.

I really wish there was a superbowl in boxing. What I would love is if one of the major sanctioning bodies sitting down and creating annual card that was nothing but championship fighting. Unforuntately too many promoters, managers, and other voices carry too much influence and are more then willing to withhold good fights if they think they're not getting their share of the money. It's too bad, a superbowl event like this would do wonders for the sport.

seems like the undercard will have Mike Alvarado vs TBA
                Guillermo Rigondeaux vs Robert Marroquin
                Macklin vs TBA

Neither one of these slops has anything special about them. The only reason it is a somewhat decent fight is because it will eliminate one more terd from the picture. I got Chavez winning and I am sure they will have a rematch afterwards. I will never see Canelo, Chavez, or Martinez as being really great fighters. They just don't stand out enough, they lack the fire, the drive to demolish their opponents. Canelo is only popular because of his ****** red hair. If this dude had Blk or Bro hair I doubt he would be as popular. People are suckers for the dumbest reasons unfortunately.
