Horrible set back for Alvarez if this is the truth. This about as bad as Pac selecting to fight Clottey, Margarito and Mosley type opposition when he did. Alvarez needs top quality, not losing has beens. At least fight "Champions"/Title Holders in or around JMW, jezzzz.

Canelo's been unlucky with finding a top name that would sell a PPV. I think they've realised September is not going to be their month.

No doubt that there are much better opponents out there other than Mayorga but he'll sell the fight and make Canelo look good in the process until the big names become available. That is all this is.

GBP needs to change the date. A fight with Mayorga is pretty weak. I would rather see Canelo fight K9, Trout or Lara but Mayorga is way past his prime.

I agree it's a terrible fight ... but were you hating on Canelo when he signed up to Fight P Will, Kirkland and Ortiz ?? those fights were signed by him and fell apart for reasons beyond his control, just saying he did try and sign a competitive fight how quick everyone forgets

Actually this fight is a tad better than what I thought they had in mind. Quite frankly I was expecting a fight with Guzman. I knew I'd have to dig low as possible, I guess I went a little to low.
