My guess about this whole "will be history" junk is that Oscar is full of **** just like Arum himself.
That's a good point as well, but I'd consider Schaefer and Arum "smart" business people and that doesn't stop them from acting like children.

It wouldn't surprise me if Oscar is full of **** though.

Haven't you figured it out yet? GBP strategy in promoting Alvarez has always been to find the best and most recognizable but easy to beat opponent available (incidentally, this is the same strategy that Bob Arum has used to promote Chavez). Shane Mosley hadn't won a fight since 2009 and was obviously on his last leg professionally. Paul Williams had just lost to Lara and appeared to be over the hill. James Kirkland has not looked good in his last two fights and shown that he is a very limited fighter. Ortiz was smaller and has limited punching power. All of these guys were/are beatable. That is why all of these guys have either fought or were offered a fight with Alvarez. On the other hand, guys like K9 Bundrage, Lara, Cotto, and other potential opponents do not fall in this category and that is why they have not been selected as opponents for Alvarez.

Since they couldn't find a live opponent that they knew Alvarez could beat, they decided to go to the graveyard to dig one up. But don't worry. Following the Mayorga fight, Alvarez's next fight will definitely be against a boxing superstar -- Oscar will talk Sugar Ray Leonard out of retirement and offer him a ton of money for one last showdown!

Yea well, the grudge is getting the best of them.

If Canelo does fight Mayorga, Oscar will not look any better than Arum after this.

Canelo..... How easy/convenient for Canelo to put it on his promoter. We can't even get him to fight or call out Lara and you expect me to believe he wants to fight Martinez?

He wouldn't even fight Kirkland after Kirk spanked Angulo. He fought Shane Mosley instead, but you want me to believe he's calling out Martinez??

Somebody's obviously lying here. Schaefer is giving interviews to boxingscene saying canelo is picking his opponent, but Canelo is putting it on his promoter for why he won't fight Martinez "after" Martinez's next fight? That doesn't even make sense.
Um, Canelo clearly states he wanted Martinez for the September 15th date. He wanted Martinez before his fight with Williams/Ortiz was set. GBP said no. By the time of the interview, Martinez had already been set to fight Jr on Sept 15th, so he can't fight Martinez now.

Martinez told him that he's kidding himself but that if he's serious, they can talk September 16th.

                It's that simple.

No surprise here. Canelo is a protected species of GBP and the WBC. They have to give him a fight he can't lose now that Ortiz fight is off to make sure the Mayweather fight happens next May. That's the way boxing is now, it's become a WWE type of show

Listen foolz, Canelo tried to fight P williams, Kirkland and Ortiz but you know the stories. What´s the big deal about Lara?? He lost to Molina but was awarded a win. Even Kirkland lost to a feather-fisted 40 year old. He wanted Cotto but Cotto chickened out, saying he´s on vacation. Mayweather?? Canelo is more than ready. Floyd almost lost to Cotto and will not fight Martinez, Paquiao, or JC Chavez. Even Ortiz deserves a rematch from that travesty of a fight.
