    Ike Ibeabuchi today

Today, more than any other time in history, fighters with 20 or less fights are being forced to the forefront of heavyweight boxing because of the weak era they fight in. Many are being groomed for title shots not because they're ready or have the experience but simply because there are no other decent fighters.

So my question is this.....if Ibeabuchi were around today how would he compare to Helenius, Pulev, Fury, Solis, Chisora, Price, Perez and Hamer? Could any of them deal with this man?

Nope... but that don't mean he doesn't run face first into a Klitschko jab for the duration of the bout(s).

Ike imo would've beat all of those guys. Ike proved he was the goods by taking Tua's best shots and soundly beating Tua, and stopping Byrd. Ike imo would've beaten Wlad K, but I don't know about Vitali.

Ike Ibeabuchi... was an Evander Holyfield with slightly more power.. slightly better jab & same toe to toe style regardless of opposition.... needless to say he didn't have Holy's heart to go along with it.. His KO of Byrd was almost terrifying in it's brutality as he just winged a shot.. waited for Byrd to stand still... pinpointed exactly where Byrd would be & just threw a bomb & had Byrd DROOLING all over the place...

No one had ever done that to Byrd & No one had ever exchanged 36 minutes of toe to toe bombs vs Tua & Lived to tell about it... Those are His 2 Best wins.... hardly a resume when he never faced an alltime great but he showed his versatility by taking care of one of the hardest punchers in heavyweight history & one of the lightest ones as well... mucho loco but without Tyson's stamina for staying out of prison.

I think he beat them all to. I don't think he beats either Klit though. In that aspect Ike is one of the most overrated heavies I've ever seen. I say this because people talk about him like he was the next coming of Sonny Liston, but he never proved he could hang with a tough, talented, big heavyweight. Im not saying he couldn't, he just never did. Would have loved to see him and Vitaly though.....lotta punches would be being thrown.

I don't think he was overrated. He never got a chance to be judged as overrated. He was the goods until he went to prison. He had a jab, and that goes a long way in this sport. Hell, neither K brother won a tough fight against a determined tough, relentless, will to win prime talent. Ike didn't just wing his shots. He could box, and he could end a fight if he had his quarry hurt.

Come on my friend, we see people claiming he would have beat this one or that one or he would have been champ every time his name gets brought up. Don't get me wrong, he showed great potential, he just never did it with a fighter over 6 feet tall. I just think there are more question marks than answers about him.

He gets overrated for being fan friendly and not having his aura shattered. I thought Tua beat him--Ike would've won convincingly if he jabbed on the outside like everyone else. And Byrd had success before getting caught. I wouldn't be surprised if someone worse than expected picked him apart by boxing...Tony Thompson, Ibragimov, Chagaev, McCline--someone like that.

Great chin, good stamina & power and loved to trade. Ibeabuchi would've been a star of the HW division.
