UFC is nothing like a league. It's a sole franchise like the cowoys, lakers, WWE. It would be impossible for boxing to manage udner one franchise the whole worlds talent. You would be missing out on a lot.

One sanctioning body is all boxing needs. It's doesn't need to be ruled under a dictator. I think people are really overestimating the success of that.

The UFC has only a handful of truly GREAT, marketable stars...those are Anderson Silva, Jon Jones, GSP, Chael Sonnen and Overeem as well. Anderson Silva is 37 and won't be fighting much longer and even when he does fight he only fights once or if we're lucky twice a year...GSP has been injured and out of the game for a year or over by the time he returns comfortably..hes also boring to watch (I am a fan of his work ethic and the way he carries himself). Jon Jones is the only GREAT star that I could see lasting a long time, though even him he hasn't got that character which makes him stand out but he is a tremendous fighter and people pay to see that. Overeem has been banned for a year and we need to see his PPV ratings when he returns, he did well before but that was against Brock who sells well.

Chael Sonnen is 35, Overeem is like 32/33, GSP is like 31 iirc, Silva 37. People taking about UFC not making the matches people want to see, thats bs because its been happening for long, GSP vs A.Silva is a mismatch because of the size disparity, GSP can comfortably make 170 and Silva has fought a few times at 205..he just about makes 185 remember he balloons up to 230 pounds when he isn't fighting. Jon Jones vs A.Silva is another fight which isn't really fair because of the size disparity..Jon Jones is bigger than many heavyweights in the UFC yet he is expected to fight a much smaller man, who is older and not in his best weight class?

The UFC has made the best fights time and time again, it is also loyal to those who are loyal to it (Penn got his rematch vs Edgar/GSP and his fight vs Diaz eventhough he didn't really deserve to fight him after a draw with Fitch a fight he lost many ppl think AND Edgar got his rematch vs Maynard/Henderson)

One thing the UFC has over Boxing is the freedom to make fights, though I don't like the fact that they don't co-promote in order to make a fight happen but that does not really matter now since Fedor has retired and pretty much 90% of the top fighters are in the UFC or are heading there after Strikeforce's contract ends with Showtime. They also pay their fighters chump change compared to Boxing which forces fighters to be as active as possible which is great from a fans perspective.

UFC has changed its direction a bit, before it just wanted to get big in the states and get settled now that it has since I'd say 2010 it has started to expand into other countries. It is HUGE in Brazil and Canada especially, and strong in countries such as Sweden, Australia and arguably the UK. They have put on shows there with good results recently and Japan (MMA is dead there now after the fall of Pride) with shows planned for Korea, China and India soon. Just because you think it is fading in the states does not mean it is fading in the rest of the world.

Same with Boxing, its huge in Europe/Mexico/UK and there are still some strong markets out there in the states...it is also growing in Japan which is surprising.

But this is only because Dana White has the power. He tells 2 fighters, this is happening, and this is when its going to happen. They don't really have a choice unless they want to no longer have their UFC contract.

Boxers generally have more freedom with their choices.

MMA is more forgiving because it is more unpredictable due to the smaller gloves and no ten counts. But yes, your point is super valid, the boxing crowd seems to be a lot more unforgiving about losses than the MMA crowd. Vanderlei Silva has lost a lot recently and is still a huge draw in MMA.

just my 2 cents:

1. UFC is successful because there is just 1 promoter, Dana White. He decides whose fighting who. Best part is, he has his ears on the fans on who they want to fight next. He just doesn't listen, he walk the talk. This is why they sold out arenas even they make the fight overseas.

2. UFC only has the original weight classes that boxing used to have before. No too much "super" or other shyets. They only have light heavy though. What i like is there is only 1 champ for each division (no regular, gold platinum, emeritus and other types of champions).

3. UFC fans don't give a sheyt of the fighters win-loss records. They watch to be entertained (much like WWE or something). You may not call MMA a "sport", but it brings a lot of interest and revenue from the casual fans. Boxing promoters and even boxers says "boxing is business", but the way i see it, UFC does better business than boxing. At least for Dana White. lol.

The big two as in Pacquiao and Mayweather? You said it yourself, UFC doesn't have a Pacquiao or Mayweather type of draw right now.

But when they did have it, (Lesnar, Liddel, Rampage, St-Pierre etc) they did those numbers.

Said it before and you ignored me. The UFC combine their international and domestic numbers to inflate their over all number. Boxing only reports on its domestic number. For example the up coming **** fest Adamek vs Toney might do 50k in the US but it would likely do another 100k in Poland. Then there's a few other countries that have it on PPV as well.
