I said Showtime will not easily forgive and that does not excuse Lee for burning everyone around him when he ducked Quillin. He got what he had coming to him from JCC.

Pretty much all Cubans are matched aggressively, they have the amateur experience and little to lose. They often flame out early. Blue chip American prospects are handled with more care.

Like I said, you don't tell the world that you are a better fighter than Gamboa and then duck Franco and Dibb. If Team Russell was confident where they were in his career, they would not have backed out of elite fights to fight for a lot less against hapless, helpless TBA's.

Showbox for years has been filled with guys from many nations, including the U.S where were matched tough early. Guess what - they became champs.

Gary Russel turned down an opportunity that on this very evening would have made him the winner of an eliminator that would have placed him in the position to fight for a title had he won. He declined. And he outright declined Dibbs for the title. He told the world loud and clear "I want softies till I am ready". The message is quite obvious he doesn't feel he is ready for Franco or Dibbs or eliminators or titles, yet he claims he is better than Gamboa. He needs to step up and dare to be great. His next opponent choice will speak volumes for or against that.

I'm pretty sure it was HBO, LDB's undercard to Sergio Macklin. Next thing you know, he's headlining HBO vs Chavez

Business decisions should never be based on the hope that you can burn everyone and expect them to help you in the future. If not for Chavez needing an opponent, Lee would have been left in the dust after what he pulled, just ask Pavlik and Gamboa. Pavlik could have had 2-3 top fights on main networks by now and he was reduced to ESPN which was his pre-championship days. Gamboa, like Pavlik lost millions for what they did. Burning people rarely gets rewarded. With Lee, it was only because of timing and a twist of fate that he got the Chavez fight....and got what he deserved for the fans who paid for flight and hotel arrangements, only to have him pull out....all over being afraid of Quillin.

EXACTLY. They should have gave him at LEAST, a 2 week notice.

Gary Russel jr is fast no doubt!! The question is will it be affective against Caballero, Garcia, Gonzalez, Dib, Salido, Chris John, JuanMa, etc. etc. etc......???
