That sounds like a much more interesting alternative.

A broken jaw is a very severe injury. If y'all gave Robinson, Duran, Morales and Vazquez a pass for quitting then Ortiz deserves a pass too.

Hell of a fight. Looks like Ortiz shouldnt even have been in a ring with Mayweather.
Good post. Canelo would have anhialated Ortiz. It wouldve been a mismatch canelos too strong and accurate. Stop riding the kid for quitting, hes just not elite. He is a righty that should never have been turned southpaw it just looks awkward and there is no rithym to hi. Now whos Canelo gonna fight? Lara, Trout? Please no theyre good fighters but im not paying to watch slick lefties fight a counterpuncher bad style match up. Im thinking he should fight Berto, K-9 or Molina on showtime in October then fight Cotto in December.

i think there should be a rematch... and that canelo should fight cotto.
I think at this point the risk/reward would be worth it for saul.
i believe he is too strong and too powerful for miguel and a good enough boxer with solid stamina... and if you wait around cotto may lose and he may not have a top guy like that where he can prove himself to be a elite fighter, but also a huge ppv fighter.

I gotta give it up to Lopez though. He was a far better boxer/brawler then I expected. I knew he wasn't gonna get the W if the thing went to the cards, GBP was gonna make sure the Canelo fight wouldn't be in danger. Anybody catch Pat Russells scorecard? I can't imagine how he could see that 98-93 in Ortiz's favor. Oh well, I knew Lopez was gonna have to KO Ortiz to get the win. Hell, Victor pretty much KO'ed himself when he quit in the corner.... again. All he would've had to do is run or hold on and he pretty much would've been guaranteed the win from GBP, umm I mean, the judges

Lopez is a good fighter but not top of the crop. I was entertained by the fight and I'll leave it at that. I have respect for both fighters. As stated they are still human and bleed like everyone. I am sure Ortiz wants to be able to leave boxing as a sain and healthy human being and not a sapless punching bag. Every sport is now sports entertainment. They are paid to be entertainers. They owe nothing to you or I, except to entertain us. I was entertained. I can careless for the so called warrior mentality because at the end of the day, they will not have the fans paying their medical bills or for their care takers.

Right. I had it 86-85 for Ortiz in my brand new notebook dedicated to scoring fights. I was gonna get a leather one but Mrs. Chief fussed at me about spending so much money on a notebook dedicated specifically for Boxing Matches, so I had to opt for the traditional 5 star notepad from Mead.

Anybody notice that Lopez was touchin Ortiz with that left hook all night, not to mention the uppercut because of Victor's excessive leaning forward?
