The big difference is that Martinez used to be extremely feather fisted when he fought at 147 because he was plagued with a hand injury. His KO ratio was like 35% in his welterweight run. Now if you just count his last 22 fights, his KO ratio is something like 80% if you include Cintron KO. He has had enough power to keep his opponents honest recently.

Although fighting Chavez is like moving up a weight class or two so I'm not sure his power would translate well.

Martinez has 100X more mobility than Andy Lee, yet it took Chavez Jr around 5 rounds to consistently hit him.

Also a lot of this depends of the size of the ring. Is it going to be another tiny ring? Or are they actually going to fight in a decent ring?

Oh, and Martinez has a lot more power than he had when he lost against Margarito. Since he moved to 160 he has increased his strength so his opponents now respect a lot more his punching power. In order to land one body shot he's going to receive at least 2 or 3 hard punches from Maravilla.
