Athleticism, Fitness and KO's. Last night's HW bout lacked in all three areas. I'm sure some found enjoyment in it, but I've been more entertained watching B-Hop fight.
What will it take for the HW division to dominate once again?

there needs to big title fights in the states. it doesn't matter thm fighters are from. in the 90s guys like botha, tua, ruddock, lewis just to name a few all fought in the states often. europe is small & 40% of the world's HWs come from the US. yes most are crap but still. just like in music you are not big unless you sell albums in the states. beatles 7.5 million albums in england, 2 billiopn in the states. there are lots of people to attract but you need to have solid fights. klitschkos did well for a few years in the US but after sanders & brewster nobody cared & they fight mostly in germany. i know the nuthuggers will disagree but if you are thriving worldwide in boxing you are doing it the states not just in europe. sure they make money over there but the division is dead & not on the map anymore.Comment

yes they are correct. i'm always correct. i didn't include a guy like rahman on wlad's list because he was completely shot and worthless when wlad fought him. i also didn't include ali's win over archie moore because moore was 800 years old.Last edited by daggum; 03-23-2014, 05:04 PM.Comment

Surely that isn't a statistic Of fights between top ten contenders from 1970 to 1979 compared to 2000 to 2009? Ranked fighters fighting ranked fighters.ok let's compare ali's era to wlad's so you can see the difference. this is just a rough list of guys ali and wlad fought. btw ali had 33 top 10 wins to wlad's 10.

I believe that was the issue. Try doing that for the 1990s and 2000s. A lot of posters thinks the 1990s was the second best decade, so one would expect the difference to be huge.Comment

well i don't have the time or resources to do that. i just gave you the overall view of how top fighters used to fight each other. most of the guys on ali's list also have a good number of losses to fellow top tenners where as on wlad's list they barely have any wins or losses to top tenners since they didn't fight any. feel free to go look up the 90's and 00's. my brain is melted from looking at boxrec.Surely that isn't a statistic Of fights between top ten contenders from 1970 to 1979 compared to 2000 to 2009?
