you cant take the opinions of ppl one NSB as the official opinion of the boxing world! most ppl on this site are either mainstream fans or trolls. besides theres always somebody who thinks even the biggest underdog is gonna win, to find a couple of quotes doesnt prove anything, especially if they are coming from here.

i can find a bunch of quotes saying cotto, ortiz, mosley, marquez etc were gonna knock floyd out, dozens probably. does that mean they were favourites?

bottom line is pacquiao opened as a betting favourite in all those fights, by the time the fights started he was most likely an even bigger favourite. boxing ppl had pacquiao a big favourite, trainers, bookies, fighters etc. and tbh most ppl even on this site had him as a favourite too. to say the vast majotity didnt give him a chance is complete bull****.

Manny wouldn't beat Marg. Freddie and Manny took a one-off chance against De la Hoya. He could easily have gotten his ass kicked. I always thought the fight was a risk, a one-off deal, but one that was worth taking, if only for a good payday and to see how Manny would fare against a naturally bigger, stronger guy. Fortunately, he passed the test with flying colors, but that doesn't mean he'd be quite as competitive with top welterweights. On the other hand, I do feel he could give them a run for their money!

Margarito would **** on Pacquiao. If you don't think so then make the fight ask Chicken Pacquiao to take the fight if you think its going to be competitive. And when the payday is good Margarito will move up. Just as Pac moved up cause the payday is good. I think Pac may be taking on too big an opponent in Margarito. But not out of fear, after all he's faced the most fierce fighters in the sport, Marquez, Barrera, Morales AND kicked their ass too. He could out work Margarito for 12 as Cotto was on his way to doing before he ran out of gas. Margarito's not good with angles or avoiding many other punches for that matter so the points will add up for Pacquiao.

Very wise decision by Roach and Arum! Margarito would literally murder Pacquiao in the ring. he's way too big and strong for Pac. Margarito would hunt him down all fight with incredible pressure and KO him in 5! So yea im glad this aint never happening!

i thought margarito will not fight pacman even if he is challenged because pacman is too small for him. margarito ridiculed oscar for fighting pacquiao who is almost half his size but pac stunned the world by beating delahoya.

if pac will challenge margarito, margarito will surely decline for two reasons:
1. pac is too small for him; or
2. he is afraid pac will send him to retirement.

Once again, Pacquiao is given little to no chance, once again Pacquiao proves the doubters/experts wrong in a dominating performance.

And it had nothing to do with size. I picked Cotto because he was the better boxer, still is.
But he didnt try to box he tried Brawling with a brawler.

Ill give that Pac is a tough little guy who can take a punch, even though he couldnt earlier in his career. Also he is willing to take a beating in which he does every fight

The thing is with BH though is that he was underdog against smaller fighters when BH was in his prime, so people obviously didnt think much of BH when he was young as well. BH is still underdog cos of his age and he isnt dominating his opponents rather than sneaking the win.

trinidad was coming up in weight but not to fight hopkins. the MW tournament was designed by DK for the sole purpose of making tito undisputed champion at 160. nobody was expected to have a chance to beat him, joppy, holmes and hopkins were just pawns for king tito to knock over and BHop flipped the script.

hopkins didnt bring tito up, it was entirely his own choice bcuz he wanted the MW belts, hopkins just took advantage of the situation. im sick of ppl pretending tito came up to challenge hopkins, he came up to unify at MW and eventually fight RJJ. hopkins was just a beltholder nobody thought much of who wrecked his plans and his face. it truly was a huge upset.
