going by the numbers you trust, Hopkins threw less.
Remember, a "power" shot is anything that isn't a jab. JT's jabs were more powerful than most of the punches that X threw.
JT landed a few good jabs, but I think those "power" jabs were in the minority of his total jabs. I think Hopkins counter rights were much better punches, and he landed just as many solid left as Taylor landed "power" jabs on top of that.
How much did they get paid again? Newayz, I think Taylor did improve this fight, but at the same token Hop Landed A GRIP of flush right hands and left hooks. HBO probably told B-hop to go easy on the kid and we'll make sure you and Golden Boy Prod become R-I-C-H! Its the smart thing for B-hop to do. I mean if he wins, then what? He's already in the HOF. Just let the kid win and hopefully B-Hop gets HIS revenge when a GBP fighter takes out an old and aging Taylor. Really a beautiful masterpiece HBO and friends wrote up...Bravo...Bravo.
I thought this time he had more of a confident look that he won, but he was still a little iffy. In both fights, Hopkins is just acting, it's funny how he's SO SURE that he won when both fights were very, very close.

He had every right to feel he won both fights.
At his age he got the most out of his body, and took a younger fighter out of his game.
Taylor looked tired, and his eye was swelled up very good.
You can tell by his talking that he wasn't very sure of himself after either fight.
He gave himself a B- for the last fight, and a B for this one.

I think this is more of a problem of Hopkins style than it is of what's actually going on in the ring. Hopkins suffers because he is not flashy. He's sneaky, and he lands counters on the inside. Mind you, I thought he clearly dominated in a few rounds. He slips and blocks punches, and that doesn't count in his favour if the guy that's throwing looks impressive throwing with a lot of power and authority, even when the punches are missing.
I agree, Hops has definitely got the best out of his body but he doesn't really have a right to be THAT confident when both fights are extremely, extremely close. There's no way he should be smiling like that when the fight could go either way. Or maybe he's just one of those guys that thinks they are right no matter what...all I know is I can't wait till the press conference, I'm going to hear Hopkins spout some more classless bull****.
