No way Miguel won the 5th.
He did land a good few jabs and you also have to score for Defense that's what some people forget, Mayweather showed the greater BOXING skills slipping punches, jabbing, hooking. That's why I would give him the round.

It takes ONE punch to bloody your nose. Heck... it takes ONE punch to BREAK your noise.
I realize it was a jab that busted up mayweather, that jab hits harder than alot of peoples rights. Cotto did have more succes than just a jab tho, but you would have never guessed that if you were just listening to hbo commentators. May got hit with more than just a jab.

Do casual fans understand that they can watch a competitive, entertaining fight that is 120-108 x 3...but is still competitive?

Scorecards don't always reflect how competitive a fight was.

One of Floyd's most entertaining and competitive fights was Jesus Chavez. But Floyd was still well ahead on the cards. Something like 7-2.

He only landed a handful of right hands. He did get some good ones in though. It was sneaky.

Cotto looks slow but it's obvious that he's not. Everyone that fights him say's he has deceptive speed but I think it's his timing that allows his shot's to be sneaky and effective.

But the jab was his punch. It was the only punch he landed on a consistent basis.

Cotto landed plenty. More than most others. But I was referring to the people who kept using the defense of "look at Floyd's nose!" , as if that was evidence of sustained blows to the face. It wasn't.

Miguel fought a good fight. He won three or four rounds. He got outclassed in the championship rounds, though.

So, in the end, he fell into the pattern of every Mayweather fight. RIGHT?

                Effin hilarious.
2 rounds isn't enough and yes, most people only had a round or two difference but I think most people are upset because it wasn't a landslide like a lot of people seem to be talking about. Mayweather won, 8 to 4 on my card but there were a lot of close rounds, no need to discredit either fighter. Very nice fight. Possibly Mayweathers toughest fight(the castillo fight was closer but Mayweather never had to grind like he did Saturday), but also one of his more entertaining ones. Both fighters deserve praise.

117-111 is fine. Cotto won 3 rounds to me pretty clear. 116-112 at best is what you can give him. You cant even kill the judges for only giving him two. Cotto fought well most of the rounds and made them competitive. Floyd's looping rights were more telling than Cotto's brief flurries. So he won a couple of the closer rounds.

Pretty much everyone acknowledges through 9 Cotto did pretty well for himself against a guy who rarely loses a minute of a fight let alone a round. Moral victories arent always so bad.

Yea, I know. But it still looked as good as it looked in years past.

I agree. May showed his greatness by rising above the tough challenge.
