Whats the Differences between Old ATG vs New Greats??

My quetion is this... why do older ppl feel that the fighters of old (Hagler, Hearns, Leonard, Ali ect.) are so much better than the great fighters of recent years (Roy Jones, Mayweather, Pacquiao, Mosley, De La Hoya, Klitschkos ect.)

    I'm just curious

Everything was harder back then. Far less weight classes & belts. Meaning the way to becoming a champion wasn't easy.

Anyway consider this. Right now between 126-147 there are 5 weight classes. Back in the day they were only 3. So a fighter moving up in weight now can break records that never existed back then. A fighter now has 4 world titles to choose from & can pick the weakest champ to win a championship against. That's only scratching the surface.

They beat more great fighters. Simple as that really, it's easy to say one guy is better than another if he proved it against better fighters.

That was just the obvious, there were same day weight ins back then. 15 round fights, you name it. Imagine if Hearns & SRL were both welterweights at the same time & didn't fight. They'd be ran outa the country.

Old Timers fought 4-12 times a year, 15 round fights, much fewer weight classes, and much less sanctioning bodies gifting belts to every Juan, D!ck, and Harry.

There is no difference in terms of specific fighters.

Just because your a modern fighter doesn't mean you can't be as great as an older great.

There are older ATG's who are between the 50-100 mark and there are newer aren't who are in the 1-50 mark. And vice versa.

A lot of older fighters get more praise because a lot of the fighters with the best resumes of all time happen to be from the older generation.

But again, that doesn't mean a modern fighter can't be as great as them.
