Any person who is a professional athlete, has their share of Bloodsuckers. Unfortunately boxers, seem to have more than other sports.

When you consider a fighter, who has a promoter, manager, trainers and helpers, entourage and other mixed leaches, it is a wonder they get anything left for themselves at all.

Gamboa will not find anything different when he does get out of the top rank contract. More bloodsuckers will be waiting.

Amateur Stars especially, should have better managers. A fighter with star potential should have a manager, who can make sure there are no long term contracts without having an opt-out clause. It seems the Managers though, seem to be more looking out for their own interests, instead of the fighters.

I'm not saying the "leaches" should not be paid. They do work also. It just seems in the boxing world, they like to take advantage.

Gamboa may not have a huge following, but who's fault is that. Top Rank have had 3 years to build him up and, just like when Mayweather was at Top Rank, they haven't delivered. Gamboa is undefeated, has been pro for 5 years, is in the prime of his career and yet he has fought no one of importance. Top Rank only seem to be interested in hyping up Latino fighters, compare the amount of attention Gamboa has received to that of Rios or Juanma Lopez. The sooner Gamboa leaves Top Rank the sooner he can start building a fanbase and making some real money.

Edit: I didn't know that Gamboa was offered $1.2m, but I guarantee that's a fraction of what Rios would be making. Besides, Gamboa would have been robbed just like Abril, and a slick fighter with a loss on his record isn't going to be making much money when Arum's in charge (not that any fighters make much money under Arum anyway.
Rios was actually offered less than Gamboa. You must not read many articles, and luckily you didn't gurantee it with your life because your mother would be calling a funeral director.

1.2 million bucks is a lot of money for a guy with no fan-base, can't sell any tickets and speaks no English. On top of that, he was being paid more than the guy with the allegedly bigger following. I wonder why that is? Since guys like Arum aren't in the habit of giving away free money, my first guess is that it's because Gamboa is expected to be a big star.

I think he broke it while he was training for Marquez, which was why the fight was postponed. I remember this one interview he showed his rib and a bone was sticking out.

He was in the back of the Rolls giving the interview to Ben from FH.

You can see the permanently dislocated bone when his shirt is off.

Yes, that was the injury that postponed the Marquez fight. Floyd still wears a special shirt with the pad over it when he trains sometimes.

                  Ronnie,

If Arum "treats" his fighters well, why do they all leave unhappily? Well, the smart ones at least?

Oscar left, made way more money after leaving
Floyd left, made way more money after leaving
Cotto left, making BY FAR his biggest payday
Pacquiao COULD make way more money without Arum.

Open your eyes, dude. Don't side with a sheisty, thieving promoter simply because he hates Floyd.

The reality is that you have NO IDEA what else was in that Gamboa contract.

Devon Alexander negotiated a $1.2 million return fight on HBO if he lost to Tim Bradley. Did Gamboa (as the risk-taker) have that?

Rios took a cut in his pay to make this fight happen. In fact, he was taking significantly less than Gamboa to make the fight happen

got anything else you want to talk about that you have no idea what you're talking about?

They make more money yes, but TR have built them up and did a good job in my opinion.

For example Gamboa could have made a big thing with Lopez, but you TR obviously wanted to build it up and also need to look after all their fighters and not just one.

GBP have their favourites just as much as TR.

For example they gave Khan better treatment over Maidana and Peterson who they promoted/co promoted.

Alexander and Bradley did get that gurantee, but also HBO assumed it would be a super fight, which it was billed as. It was also at a time early in the year where the budget is still fresh.
