Joe was a great fighter who cleaned out 168,won all the titles and then moved up and beat the reigning ring champion.......

You can't compare Floyd's record to Joe's. Floyd has fought some of the best fighters out there - Calzaghe didn't.

Fighting top ranked fighters > unifying a weak division

Fighting the best fighter in the division > fighting the linneal champion.

I love Calzaghe. When people were all over Lacy's nuts he put a whooping on him that made me happy to be a boxing fan. The only other whooping I can think of that makes me laugh and makes me as happy was when Pac whooped De la Hoya. Good times

great fighter, weakish resume but fought everyone in his division.

--waits for noobs to come in saying he should have fought James Toney and Roy Jones-- even though Toney was a Cruiserweight when Calzaghe won his first title and Roy a 175 lber.

He takes a bit of stick for the slappy style he developed towards the latter end of career due to hands been shot however you can't argue what he achieved.

well in my opinion, his best wins are hopkins, who somehow was ranked p4p number 3 when they fought. kessler who is a decent opponent and then his next best win is maybe lacy, who was supposed to come over here and beat the crap out of calzaghe.

so calzaghe was a decent fighter but could have fought better competiton. thats the best way to summarize him.

You musta missed all the Calzaghe nutlickers that used to permeate these boards. Most of them were ex-Hatton d*ckriders too. They used to spam these boards with talk of Calzaghe being an ATG but I think constantly posting here actually taught them a thing or two about boxing and they've since wisened up. Anyway, Calzaghe is a fine champion who will one day walk into the HOF.
