I am so tired of those who use the term "outclassed", they use it to describe every fight that someone wins. Ever since some commentator started using the term now everyone uses it to describe every fighters performance. Its nuts to say that Dawson outclassed Hopkins tonight. I guess you consider outclass to mean only landing 10-15 punches per rd., which is what Dawson averaged tonight. It was a closer fight than the scorecards suggest. I do agree Hopkins lost, but not by much, 2-3 rds at best, I gave him the last 2 rds of the fight and 3 earlier rds. He slipped most of Dawson's punches and his face shows no swelling, cuts, etc.. Yeah Hopkin's head caused a cut above Dawson's eye, but a punch caused the 2nd cut on Dawson.

I was never a fan of Hopkins taking the rematch because I knew Dawson would fight similar to Taylor and that is use his reach and height. Hopkins still has plenty left and I think he could beat the other 2 champs in the light heavy division, Cloud or Shumenov. He should try and get a fight with either and he would probably win, then he could go out on top with another title.

And for those who complain about Hopkins tactics. He is 47 yrs old do u really expect him to fight like a 25yr old? Its ridiculous, when u get that age one must find every way to win and that is what Hopkins does if younger fighters can't deal with it then they are not as good as they think.

IMO Dawson didnt gain anything but a belt for this win...for somebody considered to be the most talented 175er, he didnt look good...Ward dominates him easily & B-Hop will now go knock out Cleverly to continue his legend

Bernard's right eye was swollen. Bernard is hard to look good against. He's very crafty, holding and backpedaling. Bernard lost this fight cleanly. I had it 117-111. Bernard would have lost this fight 7 years ago as well. I'm a big bernard fan, but his strength is technical superiority. It was in full effect againt the likes of pavlik, pascal and even tarver. Against another superior technician, like dawson, it becomes a test of physical tools, and dawson outmtches him everyday. When bernard was in his 30s, it might have been a different story. And man did bernard use his head like a champion tonight.

Last fighter to look good against bernard was a prime rjj jr, who did outclass bernard. Roy in his prime was as good as it gets and no tricks worked.

Lol...name one person that has looked good against Hopkins? That's not a fair assessment. Hopkins style is impossible to look good against.

let's hope it happens, even though both men got other good challenges in their respective divisions. we'll see what happens, but good for andre saying this.

Bad Chad deserves credit for the win. No one looks good winning or losing to Bhop, the guy's a defensive mastermind and a stylistic nightmare. He didn't last this long off pure natural athleticism or a fan friendly fighting style. That being said, it's time for new blood to rejuvenate boxing and I would love to see Dawson vs Ward @168-175, however, imagine Froch/Bute vs Ward @168 or Pascal/Cloud vs Dawson @175. That could settle two divisions by the end of the year with a super fight in 2013. In the meantime sign me up for Dawson vs Campillo or Cleverly!

The losses that Hopkins has sustained are those where he is outworked not outclassed. His loss against Calzaghe, Taylor, and now Dawson are because they simply threw more punches than Hopkins. Another factor that Taylor and Dawson used is their reach advantage and tried to keep Hopkins on the outside. Dawson did both using his reach and throwing more punches, although he did not land very many. Also Dawson's hand speed kept Hopkins from being able to counter in between Dawson's combinations. But mostly its because a younger fighter has the advantage of being able to just throw more punches and do it throughout the whole fight. Hopkins at 47 has to pace himself and even in doing that he just is not and will not be able to keep up with a younger fighter who has good reach and who simply is quicker and throws more punches.
