        1 reason - ppv draw.
SO manny, whose max ppv sales is 1.5 mil and max pay is approx $28 mil, can't take less than 50/50 to potentially sell twice as many ppv's and make approx double his biggest payday because he is a ppv draw?

        Shade that is crazy logic.

Yes, they all looked like roaches scattering when the lights was turned on.
They thought Floyd was going to jail and they were ready to take May 5th from him. Which is a good indication that they could have said yes to that date.

But it turned out, all that barking from Floyd had no substance when he finally got Manny to accept and then offered him a ridiculous $40m flat fee.

You can take Manny's statement how you like, my point is that 50/50 is what killed the negotiations.

                  here u go s0n!! LOL!!

Michael Koncz, the Team Pacquiao adviser and manager who has been negotiating with Floyd Mayweather Jr in recent times trying to set up the biggest fight in boxing, has taken some issue with some of the things Floyd Mayweather Jr said after he named Miguel Cotto his next opponent for May 5.

Here's what Mayweather said earlier about Manny Pacquiao, and why the fight isn't happening next:

"Pacquiao is blowing a lot of smoke up everybody's ass. He doesn’t really want to fight. I tried to get him to step up to the plate. We're talking about a $10 million dollar fighter that I tried to give $40 million dollars to, and we didn't even talk about the backend. Everything that everybody is hearing is a bunch of lies. I got proof."

Mayweather did indeed offer Pacquiao a $40 million flat fee, and Koncz doesn't dispute that. Most read it as basically a 70-30 split for Floyd, after he said he wouldn't do 50-50.

Bob Arum returned with a grandstanding $45 million flat fee offer to Mayweather.

Here's what Koncz said to ******.com about what was offered:

"There was no discussion of the back end. However, our counter offer to Floyd Mayweather was a $50 million guarantee, plus the overage on the pay per view would be split 45 percent to 55 percent, with the winner getting 55 percent. ... I wish Floyd luck on his fight with Cotto, and he has my number. The lines are always open to discuss with Manny and me, the possibility of fighting in November under fair and reasonable terms."

The link doesn't work. I don't know why. Here's the article:

'World Boxing Organization (WBO) champion Manny Pacquiao (54-3-2, 38 KOs) has topped WBC champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. (42-0, 26 KOs) in PPV buys for his last three fights. In addition Pacquiao's live gate attendance far exceeds Mayweather during the same time span.

Manny's last fight against Juan Manuel Marquez drew 1.41m PPV buys while Floyd's fight against Victor Ortiz drew 1.25m PPV buys. Floyd's fight with Marquez drew 1m PPV buys.

Pacquiao's fight with Antonio Margarito in 2010 drew 1.5m buys while Floyd's fight with Mosley drew 1.4m PPV buys. Despite Mosley being percieived as a shot fighter, Pacquiao drew 1.3m PPV buys in their May 2011 fight.

In total Pacquiao's last three fights have drawn 3.86m PPV buys while Mayweather's last three fights pulled 3.65m PPV buys. In summation, Pacquiao drew in 210,000 more PPV buys than Mayweather did. When you take into account the higher number of PPV buys that Pacquiao's fight have drawn, it translates into a cool $10M in cash.

It is true that the Oscar/Floyd fight in May 2007 drew a record of 2.4m PPV hits. Many boxing observers attribute the high PPV numbers in that fight to the extreme popularity of the Golden Boy, and the fact that it was held on Cinco De Mayo holiday.

But Pacquiao's recent higher PPV numbers only tell part of the story. In the same three fights Pacquaio sold out the venus, while Mayweahter's last three fights were not not sold out. In addition, when Pacquiao fights at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas a significantly higher number of high rollers from Asia fly to Vegas for his fights. The economic impact in Las Vegas for a Pacquiao fight far outstrips that of any other fighter.

In a study by CSE, an integrated sports and marketing firm, Pacquiao is one of only two boxers in the 2012 Power Rankings of the most powerful athletes in the world. Manny is ranked at number 28. Mayweather is ranked 49th in the same study. Both on and off the field accomplishments are taken into account in the rankings. Endorsements and media presence figure heavily in the rankings.

Mayweather's assertion that he deserves a bigger piece of the pie if and when he fights Pacquiao is absurd notwithstanding Manny's statement a couple of months ago that he is willing to take a smaller cut. Of course Floyd now seizes Pacquiao's own words and uses them as a further excuse not to fight him."

PPV draw? I think a lot of you guys are missing the point. What difference is PPV draw if Pac isn't getting much of the revenue from it? So who is Pac negotiating for ? Himself or Arum? Think about it regardless of which side you're on. Pac has NEVER made 40 million in his pocket on a fight. Floyd basically pulls him to the side and says, look, let's do this and you'll clear 40 million all to you. I don't know about you guys but if my boss' competitor offers me more money in my own pocket than anything my boss has ever offered, its a deal. What does Pac care what the PPV gate is when he's not gonna see it? Do I feel he deserves 50/50 ? Yes. But even if Floyd says OK to 50/50 Pac may not get much more than 40 million clear. So why not cut out the middle man and get paid. Anyone that does not see this either has never been their own boss or is used to being pimped .
