I don't know if my vote registered but I voted for Kirkland because he is bigger and has more heart. Ortiz might KO him in the first 2 or 3 rounds but Kirkland KOs him if it goes any longer than 3 rounds.
Ortiz - Kirkland at '54. Vote!

What does "He wouldn't let Kirkland get away" mean? Kirkland would be the one pressuring Ortiz, guaranteed. And just because Ortiz looks a certain way at welterweight doesn't mean he'd look the same at a whole new weight class, which is my main point here.
Kirkland would be too big, too strong, and would just overwhelm Ortiz at 154. Now, if this was at a catch weight, it'd be closer. But at Kirkland's weight, he takes it, and rather quite easily IMO. To me, it's just common sense. I mean, like I said we're talking about one guy who not long ago at all was a Jr welter, and another guy who's fought effectively at middleweight a couple of times. I mean, that's like pitting Ortiz against Martinez who's a natural Jr. middle campaigning at middleweight. Think about the weight difference here.Comment

Its anyone's really, two hard punching ****ers with speed and suspect chins. Both guys be southpaws and love to go straight at their man. Ortiz has a few more wrinkles to his game but for all intents and purposes he is a "fighter" who will be there to be hit. Kirkland is the bigger guy and seems to have the bigger stones of the two so despite Vic having experience over him and a better all round game i think Kirkland would Knock him out early. It is the type of fight that could go either way though.Comment

First off....
Just cause of the Molina fight people make Kirkland sound like a bum.
The guy had to cut 30lbs for that fight and had a shoulder tear, not to mention the ref let Molina clinched him every time he threw a punch.
Nobody in the history of boxing have used so many clinches in one bout...
Not to mention Kirkland was starting to get to Molina before they stopped it.
Now to the second thing...
Ortiz is a one handed fighter...
yes, he hits hard and has a good right hook other than that he ahsn't much.
better boxer than Kirkland? GTFO!
Kirkland does leave himself open but the guy is a excellent combination puncher and has underrated body punching.
Cardio? Kirkland owns Ortiz in this category...
Toughness and heart? Kirkland owns him in this category.
Ortiz has wilted under pressure so many times now...
The Lamont Peter fight, the Maidana fight, the Mayweather fight...
The guy gets is so easily frustrated it's almost embarrassing.
Just because of the Andre Berto fight, people think he would own Kirkland?
GTFO!
berto will beat Ortiz in the rematchComment

This post pretty much sums up this matchup. What does "He wouldn't let Kirkland get away" mean? Kirkland would be the one pressuring Ortiz, guaranteed. And just because Ortiz looks a certain way at welterweight doesn't mean he'd look the same at a whole new weight class, which is my main point here.

Seriously bringer?
I love you as a poster but that is absolutely preposterous.
Kirkland has some excellent combination punching and you say he has no skills?
What, because of the Molina fight?
Did you even see that garbage?
The ref let Molina clinch Kirkland every 2 seconds.
Had it been a competent ref in there Molina would have been DQ'd if he kept it up.
Someone on here counted over 200 clinches from Molina if I remember right.
The guy broke every clinching record.
Not to mention kirkland had a shoulder tear he had to operate on after the fight.
So ortiz has better boxing skills now?
What being one handed equals boxing skills now?Comment

how the **** is ortiz winning this poll? kirkland would crush him.
ortiz is a former 140lber and kirkland is a big 154lber. if ortiz was a boxer he could overcome that by outboxing kirkland but hes not, he doesnt fight well of the back foot at all. kirkland already beat down the biggest toughest fighter in his division so we know hes gonna outfight basicly anyone at 154, and yall wanna match him in a straight brawl with a guy who came up from 140?
ortiz has been knocked down and out by fighters who pack nowhere near the punch kirkland does and he usually fights in spots while kirkland applies constant pressure. kirkland would walk right through him and destroy him in no more than 2 rounds.
ortiz is the better fighter p4p but at 154 he has no chance and its not up for debate.Comment

Lol, the poll is obviously rigged. Just read the replies. Kirkland was winning big on the polls, then all of a sudden I check back and Ortiz is up big. Right, I might believe it if the replies matched that, but NSB has some lame dudes in it that like to swing polls somehow.Comment
