While this talk of professionalism sounds good, but for me it means little coming from Larry Merchant as he has shown unprofessional work and commentating over the recent years.

Ironically he sounds just like boxers who talk a lot of smack but can't deliver.

i could care less what Floyd Jr. has to say after the fight. He sounds dumber with every word that comes out of his mouth, so it's just a waste of everyone's time.

This is the problem with Merchant.

I'm gonna interview Floyd as Larry, right after beating Cotto.

Larry: Floyd, congratulations on beating Miguel Cotto, it was a great performance.

Floyd: Thank you, and I would like to thank god, and all of my fans, etc.

[Now here's where Larry gets Floyd angry]

Larry: Miguel Cotto is obviously not the same fighter he was in 2007 or 2008, why did you finally choose to fight this past prime version of Miguel Cotto, and why did you take so long to stop him[or if Floyd didn't stop him: Why didn't you push for the stoppage?]?

This is where all the drama starts. Larry likes putting Floyd on the spot in front of 18k people, and 1 million viewers about his opponents. Of course it will get any one angry. But Larry doesn't do this to Pacquiao about his cherrypicked opponents. You wouldn't see Larry pressing Pacquiao about fighting David Diaz or a Shane Mosley without a win in 2 years.

I liked Merchant's line about there are no tough questions if you have the answers. But Larry Merchant is lying like ***** to sit there and say its not personal when has made numerous personal remarks about fighters that has nothing to do with the fight.

Besides I could careless who is calling the fight because I don't like the HBO commentating team anyway!

If floyd somehow KO cotto or beat cotto so bad u best bet Floyd will stick around after the fight. Not saying Floyd will give merchant the interview but I know Floyd will wanna say something in front of the camera before he leaves the ring.

Mayweather changes his mind more than he changes his underwear..much more. I suggest that if he does skip the interview, he'll be showing himself up as a very spoilt, bratt-ish juvenile. Unlike many, I don't believe that his lousy behaviour is because of his claiming the position of "the bad guy" just as a self promotion stunt.

I believe that his fans found this excuse in their frantic attempts to excuse him from the "thug" persona, and after a while, seeing how things were, he grabbed it and pretended that it was all a game. One can only assume that he beat up his former girl friend and his children to make it more authentic......As far as I can see, he has been getting stradily worse, and has been-only temporarily I believe-stopped by the sobering thought of the gaol sentence.

I think there will be an interview.

i prefer Max Kellerman's interviews anyday.
I think they should do live interviews in the locker room before the fight like many other networks do, that will add more to the expensive PPV (not paying anyway)

What Merchant fails to realize is that Mayweather has heard him crapping on him during his fights and slamming him in the media. So him being "professional" during post fight interviews is irrelevant. I don't blame Mayweather on this one. Why jump into what you know is gonna be a volatile situation that he's gonna look bad in, no matter how it turns out.
