Interviews are a two-way street though. Now I agree after the first thanking of God(which is what he should do) and his team(once is more than enough) the interview should proceed. A fighter has things he wants to get off his chest or his mind and should be allowed to do that but at the sametime the TV company and interviewer has a right to ask questions and get answers to those questions. Both sides have a right to feel a way if they are not able to get their side out.

The biggest thing is that respect needs to happen from both sides and that seems like it doesn't exsist between PBF and Merchant and that is the problem. I have a problem when any interviewer asks a question from a very personal point of view. IMO many of the questions Merchant asks most people don't give damn about. Its not the Larry Merchant show so he shouldn't be asking questions about how said fighter didn't perform up to Larry Merchant's standards. Ask questions about what actually took place during the fight such as being troubled by a jab or body punching. Don't ask questions about how Larry personally felt said fighter should have done A,B,C & D and since they didn't ask condescinding questions and make critical comments to that fighter.

If Larry Merchant wants to ask him..."did you hear the boos after round 6 when people began walking out, because you chose to pot shot all night" - which is what he did during the Baldomir fight, that in my mind is a legitimate question, since it's backed up and supported by fans who actually walked out. Listen not all questions need to be comfortable. I do, however, think that Larry isn't a fan of the Mayweather "types", who think they're conducting an interview for a rap magazine. If you start off with ..."yo, I wanna give a shout out to T-Pain and and the whole money team", let's be honest, no one outside of a small group actually gives a ****.

Bad example cause that is not a personal question that is something that happended during the fight. But at the sametime why add the "cause you chose to pot shot all night" cause that is Merchant's personal opinion cause he doesn't know the reason why each and every fan walked out. It could be those fans walked out cause the other fighter is not doing anything to make PBF do something besides pot shot. See the bias right there. I never said in my post that the questions need to be easy soft touches and make the fighter comfortable. I said they don't need to be personal and based off of Larry Merchant's opinion cause its not the Larry Merchant show. No one gives a **** about Merchant's opinion so it shouldn't come up in the interview or his commentary cause its not op-ed piece for a newspaper.

Why say something like "yo I want to give a shout out to whoever" and refer to it as a rap interview as if people in other walks of entertainment don't do the samething?

While this talk of professionalism sounds good, but for me it means little coming from Larry Merchant as he has shown unprofessional work and commentating over the recent years.

I'll agree with that as IMO some of the questions Merchant asks seem more like personal attacks on the athlete to get him to react angrily oppose to a legit question.

The audience weighed in by "walking out." Larry simply asked him to offer a response to that. You may not have liked the wording of the questions, but it simply amounts to the same thing.

Larry Merchant doesn't deserve to interview Floyd anymore. He clearly dislikes Mayweather and while I can understand that to a certain extent, it's still totally unacceptable for him to disrespect Floyd the way that he does. He never gives him a fair shake and is always complaining about something. I'm just so tired of that bitter old man. He's so negative. I get the impression that he doesn't really appreciate the sport of boxing and just likes to see brawls, which is why he loves Pacquiao so much. To be honest the entire HBO crew is embarrassing and needs to be replaced. They all have an agenda and are always trying to make you believe things that simply aren't true. I can't listen to them anymore.

Whether or not Floyd has to be interviewed by Merchant post-fight, aren't Floyd and Cotto still interviewed days before the fight by Merchant, Steward, and Lampley?

Floyd already said hes gonna run backstage as soon as the fight is over (which is a clear sign of cowardice) because he knows Merchant would spark him out if he started talklin **** again
