Yeah I mean Chico and Hatton both lost before....wait a sec.
Floyd is doing the TR thing. Its like someone told him dumb ass more people buy the fight when they believe its a competitive one. So make Cotto seem better than he is, like Bob does, rather than say you only need your "C" game.
But Cotto is a two loss fighter, who should be a 1 loss fighter. His Marg loss was bogus and should've been overturned. But he lost straight up to Manny.
Chico was a great win, prob his best but Mayweather was ballsier back then. Hatton was limited and it was a calculated risk. That fight was competitive and wasn't supposed to be.
I agree Cotto only truly lost one, so we have that in common.
Floyd is ducking Pac, what can you say about that? It's obvious.
Boxing is about taking calculated risks. If Margarito was indeed cheating prior to the first Cotto fight, then his team should have spotted it during the handwrapping. Picking competent, qualified trainers is part of the sport.
Regarding the Pacquiao fight, Cotto accepted the deal to fight at 145, if he didn't feel the risk was worth it, he should not have accepted the fight.
Cotto was responsible for his decisions, and he has to live with them.
Who like a true warrior, overcame adversity and still fought hard. He could have bowed out earlier because of the cut and won, but he kept fighting. Clottey gave away the fight in the championship rounds, with the knockdown in the first round being the difference.
Clottey did good against a mentally affected and half blind cotto, but the bottom line, he gave away the fight.
First of all, Floyd is playing a mind game of sorts with the fans and Cotto. He doesn't respect anyone but Fiddy Cent and Roger. He could care less about Cotto and his record. He is just waiting to cash out on his name but he will lose come May 5th. Anyway, I think the only loss which is questionable, is the one to Manny. Manny won the way he did because Cotto was weight-drained. Noway would Manny have been waving him in while on the ropes to throw more body-punches if Cotto wasn't. If they ever fight again, Cotto will stop him. He's just too big, too smart, and too skilled for the much smaller Manny. We all know that Cheeto did just that in their first fight. Even then, it took 12rounds to get a stoppage. That means Cotto is one tough man! I cannot wait until May 5th. Good thread though, much props to you for posing the question to the fans.
Keep telling yourself that and you might start believing it. Shame no one else will though.
The Margarito fight, plaster or not, it was clear what a solid gameplan does. He fought a totally different fight and it showed.
I think Cotto fought Pacquiao with a poor gameplan, he was totally underprepared.....but I'm not too sure it would have made that much of a difference. I think at best he's more competitive in a loss to Pac, I don't think he'd beat him.

Cotto was in that fight and Manny picked him apart. It may have been a catch weight but it was still at a higher weight than Cotto had faced most of his career. That was a legit loss and Cotto would get stopped 9 out of 10 times vs. Manny.
Cotto's not an undefeated fighter, and the only tainted loss was the Margarito one. 145 was not why he lost to Manny, just like Floyd weighing in at 146 was not why he whupped Marquez.
Cotto is past his prime-still good, has been since the hand wrap Margarito fight. He's still good and this is a good fight. Looking forward to two good fights from Floyd and Manny.
