Abril won the fight. You can't penalise a fighter for being dull (although hopefully the TV networks will).

oh trust me i do appreciate what he was doing all other than the clinching, if he didnt do it as often then i wouldnt have mind but he literally did it everytime rios got close, he would block for a bit and grab, i thought it was annoying, why not block then get on the outside with his jab? im just saying he over clinched and could have done alot more than just clinching

Pull your arms down and start firing....if you can't free both arms...surely you can free one.

The free hand can be used to:

Throw hooks and uppercuts

Rabbit punch

Kidney punch

Low blow

You can throw the clincher to the canvas

Spin him away from the ref and drive him to the ropes behind a forearm or headbutt..lots of things.

If you know a guy is looking to clinch you have to USE THAT AGAINST HIM..

Take a step back and have something waiting for him.

Anyway, what I was mainly referring to was that shameful exhibition at the end of the fight. Rios was hoisted onto the shoulders of his team like the conquering hero, while Robert happily participated. It was an absolute joke.

It's bad enough Abril was robbed in one of the greatest boxing travesties of all time; but a self-professed "warrior" and his team contributed to and celebrated the di****able act of raping a worthy victor.

I feel your passion for this sport that has stood the test of time, and has marked the test of TIMES similar to baseball, that we diehards call the Sweet Science. And like you, I agree, this ***** has got to end. Even the judge that got it right, at 117-111 for Abril, was still on the low end of a correct call. Because even a 6 point win for Abril was not an unbiased, fair & objective decision. This was a 9 rds to 2, with maybe 1 rd even, Unanimous Decision win for Abril. Wasn't even close. Bam Bam got taken to school but the politics of his promotional company/Arum availed him of the robbery. It's moments like this when I wish that I could just be satisfied with sports like football and basketball and not get so emotionally invested/vested in the hand-to-hand combat of Boxing. Ignorance would be bliss in that regard!

Boxing is near the gutter it only appeal is now to nationalistic fans who don't care for the sport , but just that their countryman wins at any cost that includes Ped's, plaster, and bought judges. Baseball stood the test of time , because it has a commission and it's America's past time. Boxing has been around with no competition until MMA that the new generations are more into. The 90's and early 2000's was the last good decades and years of boxing. As long as their fools who believe in diamond, silver, tin, and copper titles, who believe that drug testing is not necessary, and use boxing for their nationalasim fervor. Boxing will hit rock bottom sooner or later. I'm just waiting for the next big scandal that will put the nail in the coffin.

Not suprised in the slightest, just another bad decision in a long line of robberies in the states, jerry roth and glenn trowbridge ought to hang their heads in shame, germany and the USA should have some sort of competition as to who is the most incompetent in scoring boxing fights, not a joke. Impartial officials are needed, not US fanboy officials who score a point everytime one of their home fighters feints or the crowd cheers, sad
