Tito got knocked out in his similar attempt at that kind of greatness. Marquwz surpassed it with flying colours and was robbed through politics and greed.

Just think for one moment if Marquez got his deserved decision. This wouldn't even be questionable. The only reason people are questioning it is because of backroom corruption.

Marquez also has a lot more excellent champs and top fighters on his resume than many think.

Champs: Julio Gervacio (WBA SBW champ)
Orlando Salido (2x current FW champ)
Agapito Sanchez (SBW champ and Pac's only other draw)
      Alfred Kotey (BW champ)
      Robbie Peden (SFW champ)
Manuel Medina (5 or 6 time champion and FW great)
      Derrick Gainer (multiple champ)
I'm going to throw in Victor Polo, because that fight should have been for the Undisputed FW title. Polo had been brutally robbed against Scotto Harrison, the other champion, and so Marauez fought Polo instead of Harrison as that was the guy that was considered the 'real' other champ at the weight at the time. As always, people look back and only see a BS draw instead of Polo being the champion and Marquez missing out on his Undisputed claim. Disgrace. That fight was nearly as bad as Abril/Rios. He was also screwed in his only other title fight outside his country (of course) when the ref ruled an obvious slip against him on the opponents corners towel being left on the ring apron. It literally lost him the fight and title. Poor bastard.
      Terdsak Jandaeng (WBC SFW title)
      Marco A. Barrera
Rocky Juarez (I'm putting him in here because he was clearly a top flight fighter when Marquez fought him)
Joel Casamayor (lineal SFW and LW titlist)
      Juan Diaz (unified LW champ)
      Katsidis (ATG legend!)

You also have his two 'losses' to Pac. Despite 80-90% of people believing he pretty clearly one either or both of those fights, it was only the money fighter that got the nods. The third fight was clearly a Marquez win, which should have lead him to being one of the very few fighter in history to jump from 135 to 147 and beat the top flight P4P 1 champ. I don't mind the fact that Pac has a win, and draw against Marquez, what I find most disturbing is that from 3 fights, only the guy that had big money fights lined up ahead of him got the nod over the guy that most thought had pretty clearly won two of those fights. 3rd fight, Pac arguably only won about 3 rounds, yet his fight with Mayweather got him the win. As Arum told Marquez afterward in the ring "It's not personal, it's just business".

You also have Chris John and Freddie Norwood on the list of fighters that really didn't deserve a W against him.

Either way, that's a long list of fighters who were champions that Marquez beat that people forget about.
      .............this!

        Nice try
so how about you address everything?....jmm still went up in weight, and bs casa was in a close fight with kat, he dropped kat twice, and landed more bunches...quit generalizing....jmm wasnt in his prime weight/age either.

and are you going to tell me that was jmm's best time too, against mab?

        • Tito Trinidad was the WW champion for 8 years, and had numerous title defenses.
He defeated hall of famers like: de la Hoya, Camacho and Pernell Whitaker. He also defeated Mayorga and Vargas.

I feel Tito has the better resume.

          • I am glad the poll is quite one sided. Marquez is a superior fighter period. I always felt Tito was overrated because he is a puncher. He had some great wins against Vargas, etc. But bottom line, he got shut down 3 times. 3 times in his career he was shut down, where he could not mount anything offensively. Hopkins you can understand, but winky and Oscar whipped his ass too, and it was surprising how they totally outboxed him with ease.

              • Again, I think it boils down to how you view Marquez' losses to Manny. Because if you view them as losses...it's Tito and it's not very close.

JMM has had the same style for years and hasn't changed. He has an excellent counter puncher style that has worked for him for a long time. He has tweeked it a lil but is been so good at it for a long time.

If you want to say that JMM was in his prime later and thats what you think it is ok for me. JMM has been a crafty counterpuncher early in his career and when MAB and EM had their epic bouts I was hoping back then he got his shot somewhere in between cause that how strongly I thought of him as a fighter. He was no where near as popular as those guys at that time.

I can't believe how lopsided this poll is. I think it's closer than that.
