Martinez against Floyd happening later is not going to be the same most probably because Martinez is going to turn 38 .... but maybe that is what Floyd wants?
And the excuses begin!!! Like clockwork with you.

Why do you guys worry so much about his legacy when Floyd himself really could care less?
Bring this conversation to a full circle .... I said this at the start:

Unfortunately, the odds of Canelo vs Floyd is a bit higher than they were not too long ago. Being that the Floyd fans are seeing this as a possibility, they are getting ready to protect their fighter.

"He already has his legacy set".
      "Canelo makes business sense".
      "Floyd is already a HOF".
"It's only Floyd's 2nd fight at 154. Floyd needs a few more fights before he can take on a Martinez"

but in other threads they will say that Floyd is always fighting the best out there and blaming his opponents for not fighting Floyd.

If Canelo can beat a top 154 lb'er after he gets by Mosley then he has earned the right to fight Floyd when Floyd gets out. It'll be a unification fight at 154 and for the RING belt.

        Who wouldn't go for that?

          Excuses? How about FACTS!

Martinez almost lost to Macklin in his last fight. Fortunately for him, Macklin ran out of gas and Martinez was able to take advantage of that. Was it just a bad outing? I hope so ... but perhaps its a sign.

I have said this for a while now that Floyd needs to fight a Manny, Martinez, Cotto, Mosley, Oscar when they are still prime .......... if they fight when they are not at their best and Floyd wins, it's just not the same.

Again, it's not an excuse. It's reality!

Pirog is better than Chavez Jr and he offered to fight Martinez. He got turned down of course. Why? Cause Pirog is high risk medium reward, better to fight B level guys like Barker and Macklin and wait for a big money fight. Does that sound like somebody fighting for legacy?

Personally, I don't look at the belt that the fighter has. I need to see with my own eyes if Canelo is ready for Floyd. Presently, it should not even be in the radar unless you are a casual fan that likes to see Floyd fight anybody ......

And what do you see about Martinez that makes him so dangerous? I think Floyd beats both quite handily.

Like you said, Martinez almost lost to Macklin but luckily for him Macklin gassed.

This is true. It seems like he is almost afraid for Floyd to take this fight. There is not another fighter in between 147-160 that posses the kinda challenge that Martinez does. That makes sense financially.
