  • Someone explain how Canelo is "GREEN"

I know the kid is 21 but how is someone with 39 pro fights "green". in his case age is irrelevant, you could be 25 with 20 pro fights. i could be wrong but i've never in my life(im kinda young)heard a fighter with 39 pro fights called "green". seems like only when your about to fight floyd your "green", just like ortiz was. i guess floyds fights have to start comming with 28 year old age minimums. **** is crazy.

point is im looking for a rational explanation. after all im not an expert i could be wrong.

Because, most of his pro fights are replacement to his lack of amateur experience.

Meh. He's no longer green. He was maybe green when fighting Baldo.

Yea no one is saying different. Doesn't mean he isn't a green fighter. Doesn't mean he still isn't really learning his craft on the job now does it? He didn't have an extensive amateur background. And, the amateur background he does have isn't World amateur experience. Pretty much just Sinaloa experience.

Broner at this stage is more seasoned than Canelo is so is Gary Russell Jr and Mickey Garcia. More advance in his career. And, Broner is somewhat green too. He is not fully developed and Canelo is far from fully developed. Having the GREEN belt doesn't change that.

You can have 100 fights but if you never step up your competition then in a way you're still green, you're inexperienced at the elite level.

thats true but there a lot of fighters who didnt have a real amatuer backround. i still dont remember any fighter with 39 pro fights being called "green" after all he is champion. i know martinez started boxing late did he have a serious amateur backround ? im not sure, i could be wrong.

With the quality sparring he's getting, I think the excuse of lacking an amateur career is a bit overplayed. Same for Chavez. They have better resources than most do.

come on homie name another fighter in the last decade that was champion and had 39 pro fights that people called "green". you have to admit that the possibility of him fighting mayweather is a factor in people calling him green.
