These are the Fat Cubans own words from a Reuters article on Yahoo Sports dated March 19, 2011.

"I hurt my knee when I went down. It was unlucky but unfortunately these things happen," said a dejected Solis. "It will take a lot of time for me to get over this because I am not used to losing."
    Reuters

So, what do these words mean? He didn't say he went down because he hurt his knee. He stated that he hurt his knee when he went down. So why did he go down to begin with? Did he slip on a wet canvas? Did he trip over and untied shoelace? Did he swing and miss and his momentum took him to the floor? Or did he get tangled up with his opponent and trip? Nope, none of the above.

And honestly there really is no mystery to why he went down. And as hard as it is for me to break the news to the Fat Cuban's fan and also to the Vit haters. He simply went down because he was hit with a punch. He was also obviously wobbled and could not continue. And anyone one of you can twist it and split hairs all you want but at the end the day the fight was scored correctly as a legitimate stoppage.

In closing I also want to touch on one other matter. And that is in all my years of watching boxing I have never seen so many so called fans but so much stock into the first two minutes of a fight when the fighter landed less then five punches. And I absolutely believe it is absurd to do so. After all it wasn't like it was a 3 round amateur fight.

I had Solis winning 4/6's of that first round and the knockdown shouldn't have counted because it was his knee going out and not a punch that put him on the canvas. The fight should have been declared a no contest. There is no blueprint to beat Solis...his opponents have to pray for fortuitous injuries to occur to him to get the win.
      Is Manny 40 years old?

Anyway, I highly doubt history will remember Odlanier Solis as the fighter who was stopped on an injury against Klitschko and there was no blueprint to beat him...so far history will not remember him at all.

Good post. It's a pity he was injured and couldn't fight on, otherwise he would've been able to get up from that knockdown. Still, losing one round 9-10 or 8-10 doesn't prove anything.

Manny is 32, Vitali is 40. Lewis retired at 37/38. Try again.

Lol, not even close. He was injured as a result of the punch. There's nothing to contest about that.

So what's the difference? Solis got knocked down and then injured. Vitali was winning and lost on cuts. He wasn't knocked down and didn't show any signs that Lennox could beat him oustide of cuts. There's a big difference.

He was wobbly even if he had gotten to his feet and didn't get injured, Vitali would have tee'd off on him and stopped him anyways. It actually would have been worse for his confidence going forward, so in many ways, what happened benefited Solis.

Lol, listen to you guys already getting your excuses lined up. If Solis looks good in his comeback there is no reason Vitaly shouldn't rematch him. He is clearly the most talented contender if he comes back as good as he was. If Vit doesn't rematch him Klit fans should never bring up the Lewis fight again. I'll tell ya, you guys are something!

This is what is commonly known as an ASSumption. It has no factual proof, just guess work.
