He can starve and drain himself and make lightweight or even super feather like everyone else but he would rather not and instead willing to fight bigger guys at welter.
But Pacquiao is a welterweight, fighting welterweights. He is not a lightweight.

      That's Pacquiao for you.

Pacquiao will weigh-in for a welterweight bout at 144 the day before and weigh at fight night at 148. While his welterweight opponent will weigh 148 at weigh-in and at fight night at around 160-165, this is how every other welterweight will weigh.

Whereas a lightweight such as Marquez will weigh-in at 135 and at fight night will weigh 145-148. If you check other lightweights the weights will be somewhat similar.

Pacquiao's body is what a normal lightweight would be. He's just pushing the limit and is fighting as a welterweight.

Who are all these welters that Pac is fighting weighing in at 165?

Margarito at 167. Mosley at 165. Clottey and Cotto at 165. These are fight night weights in the ring.

You must be a new fan of boxing, this stuff has been going on for decades. It used to be fighters had to weigh the day of the fight but with the change to weighing-in the day before, this is the result. Fighters drain themselves to make weight then bulk up for the fight.

Mosley and Cotto weighed in at 165 against Pac?

Shit thread. Raheem was an ill advised opponent for Morales to chpose as his LW debut/tuneup. There was no call for Raheem to fight Pac.

              You're trying too hard Turbo.

He should have fought him after the Morales rematch but am sure after watching what happen with Morales in the Raheem fight Arum wouldnt have risk putting Pac in there when he knows Pac might struggle with Raheem's style.

So where is Raheem now? Rigondeaux fought the same way in the biggest stage for him under the Pacquiao Margarito fight, it was a borefest and a disgrace. It was supposed to be the coming out fight for him and he blew it.

There's really not much skill to showcase if a fighter's intention is to back pedal all night and not engage. Similar to Mosley's fight against Pacquiao, fans just do not enjoy it, it's frustrating for them to watch. Leaves a bad impression.
these pakt@rds show how lil they know about boxing. seriously counter punching and ring generalship are signs of a pure boxer.

Love counterpunching and ring generalship in the context of constant action, it's part of boxing. Ring generalship in the context of running or strategic retreat I hate, counterpunching in the context of 10 potshots a round I hate.
