    Good Post......

I totally agree with you. Neither one of them would have dominated in that era either. Matter of fact, I see a couple losses in that group alone. Neither one has fought anyone near as good as a prime Hoya, Trinidad, Quartey!

      that's hardly an outlandish statement
Pac and Floyd became huge stars at WW
but they don't come close to measuring up with ATG WW's
most dominant guys from yesteryear KO them both

They took risks in the ring. That alone makes them more credible than a guy who who has anger problems but isn't mad at himself for ducking his era. Who the **** goes on vacation in their prime??? Duran, Chavez, Pryor, and a few more would make him look average at 140. And by the way, Class Of 2008 is when I joined this site. I was born on a hot and thunderous night in 1980. I know what I am talking about. If you had any class, you wouldn't make excuses for a fighter who refuses to fight the best but claims to be the greatest to lace up gloves.
are Floyd & Pac's careers over? They will fight before they retire, if they dont lose 1st. There have also been other greats who didnt have a fight, like SRL ducking the smaller Pryor who you spoke of. You have to wait until they are done to say they didnt fight. They might fight later like again SRL did to Hagler.

Anyways, who did Hearns or SRL fight that they should be worried about? Again, I hate it when people give credit for fighting someone at your original weight. Floyd wont hesitate fighting anyone at SFW because its his natural size which is why he fought a devastating undefeated Chico when he was mad young.

Who did they fight that they shoudldve feared? The only fight you could say maybe is Hearns & SRL vs Hagler but Hearns was a 7ft tall WW that could comfortably move up to MW. He also had been KO already so you always take the tough fights after an L because its the only way to get back to the top.

SRL also waited for Hagler to slow down dramatically, get cut, and he had been retired so long that he had nothing to lose. If he lost then no one would care. Its not as special as people make it seem. Its what anyone would do. Its the same thing I say now about guys like Cotto or whoever

          Let me school you......

I'm done with this thread. The reason why Leonard elected not to fight Pryor is because he was too small for him. He told Pryor and the whole world that. Besides, Leonard had no reason to fight Pryor. Pryor would have gotten his head knocked off because he got hit too much. Do your research man. Leonard was asked by Larry Merchant after he made history against a light-heavyweight named Donnie "The Golden" Lelonde, why wouldn't he fight Julio Chavez next? Leonard replied, "because he's too small Larry. You know that. Come on. That fight would be too easy". It's the whole meaning for this thread if you pay attention! The facts are this; Manny Pacquaio and Floyd Mayweather would have been too little and it's no way in hell they would have a chance of winning against either Leonard or Hearns. How old are you by the way? You have to be young to be even arguing such a moot issue. I can tell that you are upset and must love Mayweather.

Most of the replies in this thread are shockingly intelligent. With all the moronic bickering and trolling that goes on here, I never knew that BoxingScene people really know what's up. Good stuff.

              These Floyd Stans.....

They have no problem saying Floyd will beat Sergio for the Middleweight title, and yet when pressed with something like Leonard will KO him @ Welterweight, they say Floyd is really a Superfeatherweight.....

What history did Leonard make against Lelonde? The fact that he made the LHW Champ who had never fought below that weight come down to SMW for the fight yet put his LHW titles on the line? That was the biggest sham in history. Thats the only history that was made. SRL won the SMW & LHW titles that night against a weight drained fighter.

Its also funny how Pryor was too small but Duran wasnt. How does SRL saying JCC is too small after the Lalonde fight have anything to do with Pryor? At the time of the Lalonde fight, SRL was at 168. Pryor wasnt asking him for a fight then. Pryor was asking 5 years before. Ofcourse SRL is too big for Chavez.

JCC was a LW and only a couple fights removed from SFW at the time of the Lalonde fight. Pryor on the other hand was 140 his whole career at that point and SRL was at WW. He had already fought Duran.

You keep falling for SRL's crap. He always says one thing and then changes it. Im the biggest SRL fan there is but he's not perfect in any way.

I don't think Ray would knock Floyd out, but he'd beat him at WW. Floyd's best weight was 130, and Ray is obviously bigger than he is. Floyd and Manny are both ATG's that happen to be skilled enough to fight at WW today. Floyd is skilled enough to fight at 154 and maybe 160, but I doubt that happens. Floyd isn't even a natural WW, is tiny at SWW, can you imagine him at MW???

Leonard was a full fledge WW from day one. It's like comparing if Roy Jones (the version that fought Hopkins at 160) and Ray Leonard fought at 160 or something. Obviously Leonard was capable ot fighting at 160, he beat Marvin Hagler there, one of the greatest MW's of all-time. It's still unfair to compare the Roy Jones that beat Hopins at 160, to the Leonard that beat Hagler at 160. Leonard was nowhere near a natural MW, and Roy was even big for 160 at that time he fought Hagler, and went to SMW less than 2 years later.

The reason Leonard and Pryor didn't fight is because Pryor wanted more money. That is from Aaron's own mouth, not the HBO documentaries which contain revisionist history.

Duran was willing, in Montreal, to get the much shorter end of the financial stick to face Leonard. So was Kalule and other fighters.

                    Pryor was not.
