anytime he's asked he always says that he would stop Floyd and that he & others are too big. SRL always replies: "I always say like father, like son".
Even Senior kinda says similar things. I got the feeling that he actually thinks that he would beat his son in his prime because of sonComment

I read the interview. It looks like Hearns speaking and Leonard watching. By the way, those who posted on the Leonard page didn't agree with you; all but one agreed with Leonard.I don't know if Sugar Ray was having day thoughts in his retirement or if he was still thinking about his fight with Floyd Mayweather Sr. back in the day! Whatever the case I'm trying to figure out how Sugar Ray Leonard would have effectively landed the punches on the Champ = Floyd Mayweather Jr. to be able to knock out Floyd Jr. Please tell us how you would have knocked him out as strong as Floyd is on defense alone. When it come to speed and slipping shots I just don't see it. READ MORE HERE http://ning.it/HiUa4iComment

Shaking his head.......
Whoever the dummy is who posted this article should be banned! He must be young or just plain ****** or both. Maynever should not be mentioned in the same breath as Ray or Hearns or any other great fighter who took risk against fighters who could beat them. I'll give you the facts. Leonard was too big, too strong, too smart, too conditioned, and too fast for floyd. His defense would have ment nothing because he can defend against average fighters, but him in the ring with Leonard wold be a step up for him even. He would get his ass beat up just like his daddy. That fight would have never happened. Manny is my favorite fighter today, besides Cotto, but he would have gotten stretched also. Neither one had any advantages against Leonard or Hearns who are use to fighting the very best the sport has to offer. I respect Manny for his humbleness and willingness to fight anyone though. He is a modern day warrior who is one of the greatest little fighters I have ever seen. Floyd is only good today. He wouldn't have been anything special 20 years ago.Comment

you must really be class of 2008 and wasnt around when Floyd was at SFW. People who didnt watch him back then or werent into the sport as much dont appreciate his greatness.Whoever the dummy is who posted this article should be banned! Also, SRL has the size on him but you arent not going to convince me that anyone is smarter or better conditioned than Floyd. Some guys may be on par but not better.
Then, just because you think SRL wins head to head doesnt mean that Floyd isnt relevant 20 years ago. They are far apart size for size. Floyd is a mad small WW in his 4th division while SRL & Hearns were huge WW's in there 1st division.
If you want to compare them then do it in a P4P sense and in that regard Floyd easily holds his own. A SFW Floyd more than stacks up with a WW SRL & Hearns while he also has shown to be better at higher weights then they were.
Give the man his due. He wouldve definitely been great 20 years ago. He could still be fighting at 140 or LW back then if he wantedComment

Leonard and Hearns were much bigger than Floyd and Manny. Floyd's best weight was 130, he's much smaller than Leonard. It's not even comparable, to me at least.
Floyd and Manny would still be great 20 years ago, but I doubt they would be fighting at 147.
They'd probably be at 140.
If Floyd started his career at 130 back in the Late 70's, there'd be great fights from 130-140 in his career. Say he started in 1976, 20 years earlier, and move up gradually from 130-135-140.
130: Alexis Arguello, Samuel Serrano, Rafael Limon, Edwin Rosario, Bobby Chacon, Hector Comacho.
135: Jose Luis Ramirez, Ray Mancini, Livingstone Bramble, Alexis Arguello.
140: Aaron Pryor, Lonnie Smith, Meldrick Taylor, Hector Comacho, Julio Cesar Chavez Sr, Ronnie Shields, Alexis Arguello.
I don't think any of those fighters beat Mayweather at those weights, but they'd be great fights.Last edited by 4Corners; 04-04-2012, 11:07 PM.Comment

I don't even match Mayweather and Pacquiao up with the ATG welterweights.
At lower weights, yes. At WW, I do more so with the Starlings, Quarteys, DLHs, a lower tier than guys like Leonard and Hearns.
Floyd and Manny are ATGs in this era who happen to be competing at WW at this point in time.Comment

NO merit........
What you are saying has no merit because Floyd would not have fought Leonard or Hearns. He won't even fight a "lightweight" named Manny Pacquiao for 50/50! He is delusional for saying he is the greatest when he doesn't even believe that man. The difference between those great fighters and Floyd is simple; they took on fighters who could beat them! They took risks in the ring. That alone makes them more credible than a guy who who has anger problems but isn't mad at himself for ducking his era. Who the **** goes on vacation in their prime??? Duran, Chavez, Pryor, and a few more would make him look average at 140. And by the way, Class Of 2008 is when I joined this site. I was born on a hot and thunderous night in 1980. I know what I am talking about. If you had any class, you wouldn't make excuses for a fighter who refuses to fight the best but claims to be the greatest to lace up gloves.Comment
