Marquez workrate dropped quite a lot towards the end of the fight..

So from having Marquez winning CLEARLY first two viewings to actually having Pacquiao winning by an almost insignificant amount on the third watch.. bottom line it was a hell of a close fight which could go either way..

im gonna watch it again and see what score i come up this time..
Did you watch the fights BEFORE OR AFTER you heard both sides of the controversy?

If its after, do you think you really weren't affected by the politics?

If you two times had it for Marquez, it says more about you for flip-flopping than it does about the one performance that Marquez gave.

In boxing like politics, you only get one vote. You voted twice for Marquez and then thought about it for a while and then gave it to Pacquiao after considering what was said.

    Hmmm ...

Its doesn't sound like Manny just avoided Juan Manuel Marquez ... it appears that Pacquiao avoided ANY top 3 rated fighter PERIOD!

Wow. And if that wasn't bad enough, every fighter that Pacquiao faced since Diaz was coming off of a huge loss excluding meaningless tune ups .. until he fought JMM in 2011!!!

If you have the education, do the math.

Wow, wasnt cotto top 3 WW? Wasnt hatton no1 LWW? So i think your trolling troll? DLH, Cotto, Hatton, Clottey are a far more dangerous quartet than Floyds wife who seems to be only Floyds opponent in that space of time. So your stretching it a bit with your beliefs on Pac.

JMM begged Pac for a fight your right, and thats why Pac took JMM as Floyd ducked Pac. So Pac could fit JMM into his scedule.

I watched it the 3rd time specifically to determine exactly how many rounds i had Marquez winning by but upon closer observation and analysis of the fight i saw it differently to the first two viewings...

Really it was Pac's consistent work rate and Marquez' decreasing work rate in the championship rounds which made it a close fight.. i had Marquez winning only one round from rounds 8 - 12..

The first time i saw it was live.. I was in shock that Marquez was able to deal with Pacquiao on such even terms and gave him many more problems than anyone else in recent history.. It wasnt even supposed to be competitive remember, Marquez was supposed to get blown outta the water!

Its that expectation of Pacquiao's ability to dispose of Marquez easily which led me to misjudge the fight hugely in favor of Marquez when he turned out to still be on even terms with Pac..

So yeah.. not quite what you think.. i just tried to score it as fairly as possible, forgetting the names Pacquiao and Marquez, and just imagining there are two no name boxers in there..

You've never done that with a fight, where you had it scored one way, but scored it differently when you went back later? I've done that a few times, sometimes you are watching with a bias one time, and not later. Doesn't mean you're flip flopping or thinking of what others thought, just means you saw something looking at it a different way. Sometimes you're biased the first time, sometimes you aren't really scoring it the first time, stuff like that.

                  pretty horrible fight, too.

making a fight like that exciting is the responsibility of the aggressor.

                  marquez winning a pacquiao fight?
probably not a barnburner. 38 year old counterpuncher without any of the physical advantages
That is still crazy to me. I can't fathom scoring that fight that one sided for either guy. No matter how many times I see someone say they had it that way, I never come close to scoring it like that.

Pacquiao doesn't get enough credit for Marquez fights
It was quite clear after the 1st fight that Marquez had solved his style and would always give him hell of a fight no matter what but he went on to fight him 2 more times despite being a much bigger draw than him.

Pacquiao gets hated a lot because Arum has given him undesirable fights but he deserves credit for taking on his biggest rival 3 times despite always being at a technical disadvantage.

A lot of big stars have gone through their careers without giving someone who they beat in a close fight a rematch e.g De La Hoya with Whitaker, Quartey, Sturm.
yes, this is so true... pac fought a guy who is a nightmare for his style, pac is tailor made for marquez, and if marquez is that great then it would have been easy work for him already.. im not saying this to discredit marquez also, but it is true that eventhough pac is tailor made for marquez he was able to manage to make the fights close and even convincing the judges, fans may interpret it whatever they want but the truth it is close, some guys who are tailor made for the other guy just get KOed easily, and that is what amaze me because pac made it close and make it exciting wars.... marquez is great, but pac deserves a lot of credit for these, and not get bashed because pretty boy just toyed marquez whom he has all the advantage...
